You have to look at this from many different angles. 1st, a 16 year old is only going to listen to Mom to a certain extent. My mom kept me under close watch at that age, VERY close watch, and I STILL managed to get into trouble. Not pregnant, but I easily could have. The difference was I knew about birth control and I used it. THAT wasn't my Mother either, that was my friends more than anything. Lynne IS to blame in that she allowed Jamielynn to live with this boy however, BUT, is the "legal" or "consent" age in Louisiana 18 or is it 16 as I THINK it is in some states. If it IS 16, Lynne wouldn't have been able to stop her. Jamielynn doesn't stand a HUGE chance of being an oustanding Mom from the role models in HER family, but perhaps his family is a bit better. One can hope. There are a lot of factors, and take out the fact that she's a celebrity, she's still a 16 year old kid with a HUGE responsibility looming in front of her, and I pity her. She's going to have to grow up really really fast.

I'm 30 and I'm not ready yet either. Financially it's hard just for me and, my girl works too. We want kids but we can't now. We don't want to leave them with baby sitters and we want it to be right to enjoy them. So I don't know how Jamie could be ready for motherhood at sixteen even if she is rich. Since Jamie Lynn has worked (as a child herself) in a lucrative field (and we presume her parents saved her earnings for her) and is also the child of parents made weathly from the earnings of her sister, Jamie Lynn should at least be in a far better position than other 16-year-olds who decide to have and keep their children. Since many celebrities would have elected an abortion (Paris Hilton comes to mind), I think the decision to keep the child and face the publicity and ugly remarks was a pretty courageous one on Jamie Lynn's part. From the child's perspective alone, however, it's unfortunate that giving the child up for adoption to be raised by more mature parents is not an option given Jamie Lynn's celebrity. Since Jamie Lynn and Casey met in church, I presume they will marry. Hopefully, they will be able to provide a solid, non-celebrity upbringing for their child.

I finished high school a year behind my class but I did graduate and then I went on to college and graduated with a MACC Master of Accounting degree. There was hell in our house for a while during my early months of pregnancy but when tempers cooled and the hell passed mom and dad pulled together to help me. Adoption was discussed with our parish priest but abortion was not an option they would let me consider, and then mom and dad also abandoned the Catholic Church adoption resources option about a month before I was due to deliver. I think I became a pretty good mother and my life sure is not ruined. I owe that to my mom and dad and I hope Jamie Lynn is as lucky as I was.

Jamie Lynn will be a GREAT mother, I'm sure. No sarcasm there, I'm serious. She is such a sweet and polite girl, and just because she got pregnant doesn't make her any worse than any of the other MILLIONS of teens in the country having sex. For all we know they were using a condom and it broke, they don't have 100% success rates.

But honestly, Jamie Lynn is a very sweet girl, has the best manners ever, does well in school, and has managed to avoid the party scene of Hollywood. She's very low key, and she plans to raise the baby in her hometown. Will Jamie Lynn be a good mother @ 16. well only time will tell. I know of a woman who had her 1st child @ 14, her daugher is now 16 and she did a great job with her. as well as her other 2 children. She has a career and all three children are honors students. My friend saw all the bad mothera around us, and she decided what was right and wrong. Give Jamie Lynn a chance, she seems to have more of a head on her shoulders than her big sis.

Taking care of your nieces and nephews aren't the same thing as being a mother. To who said how can a 16 year old make a good mother....that's ridiculous. Age does not make you a good mother. Typically, you'd hope a mother is a bit older, more life experience, etc., but I happen to know several teens who have been wonderful mothers and have parented very well. You have your own parents/family to help you, you have 9 months to prepare and learn all you can. Most of it is being able to put in the time, effort, and give the child love. Like I said, it doesn't matter if she's 16, 18, 25, 35...age doesn't determine anything.

However, with that said, no this girl won't be a good mother. This case has more to do with the situation rather than age. She is destined to fail with the spears curse.

First of all if she has been with him for years what was she 13? or 14? who lets there kid date that young? Her career is over because Parents aren't going to let there young kids watch her show..No matter what year this is being pregnant at 16 is not cool!!!!! She should be what a junior in high school and there is waaaay to much education for young people now about this and STD"S you can have sex just once and get HIV I'm sure there are alot of teens having sex but you have to educate yourself about it personally I think she was pregnant when the National Enquirer said it awhile back and she's about to start showing so she had to announce it. A good mother would have made her girls get a higher education took time out for college, because when the money runs out what other skill do they have? Like Claire Danes or Brooke Shields they have college degrees Jaimie Lynn hasn't been acting for that long and will easily be replaced by another 16 year old. Nobody in this industry want's to go there this is still a taboo subject.

I have a teen daughter, and will no longer allow her to watch anything with that little slut Jamie in it. ANYTHING Spears has now been banned from our house, not just Britney like it was. Just because she is famous and has money does not mean she will make a good mom. Look at Brit. What a waste. Hopefully she will give it up for adoption to give the baby a REAL chance at a NORMAL life, because otherwise it will not. "Auntie Brit" is a very scary thought. This family is doomed. age doesnt matter. it is your maturity level. as long as she takes responsibility for her actions that seems pretty mature to me. i got pregnant when i was 16, had my son at 17, had my second son at 19 and now im 22 and pregnant with my third baby. all from my husband. we had a baby in highschool graduated from highschool. my husband went into the army and im a paralegal. how many 22 year old couples do you know that had a kid in highschool, and at only 22 own their own house? dont say that she is too young. all she has to do it make a the choice to be a mother, and do the best she can! i did!!

No I don't think she is ready! Right now she really won't have a choice. I don't think no one is really "Ready". She just has more of a challenage..she is young and she will have to fight her own battles within. It's a big decision to consider having sex but society now days makes it seem as if its ok. So if the younger generation thinks sex isn't a big deal its because they were taught by people in society that its ok. Yes she shouldn't have had sex but that doesn't matter now what matters is that she needs the next 9 months to really search and find that inner mother within her and accept that is happening to her. I think she needs this time for herself and to make a healthy child so I do think everyone should just lay off her. NO ONE IS PERFECT !!!

Nick -- you have a great opportunity to step away from the pack and help kids understand what taking responsibility means. Keep Jamie-Lynn on your roster if you believe she's a focused, hard-working, drug-free, responsible individual and does right by her parenting decision. It's time America recognized that the "Disney" childhood is a lie, and stand up for making things better. In fact a Jamie-Lynn foundation to help unwed or pregnant teenagers would be a great idea. The fact is it does happen, but that shouldn't mean the end of the world for either the mother or the child.

All the parents who are banning zoey101 are really ridiculous. You should be teaching your daughters from this example. Not turning it off and placing a blind eye to it. I have a fifteen year old daughter and I told her the truth. From this example, she will learn a lot of what not to do. You can shelter your children because thats exactly what makes them uneducated and scared to come to you and ask questions. Lets face it in life You put yourself into situations, where you are having unprotected sex and this is what happens. This is a good lesson for teens, this happens all the time in our society. Children need to not only learn from zoey101's mistakes, but also to learn from Britney's mistakes. I applaud, when big hollywood stars get real and make mistakes, especially the younger teen stars. I think its a great opportunity for my child to learn from a very "real" life situation. I am very interested to watch and see what happens to her life, how it changes, what are the sacrafices she has to make and how are people judging her. How people view you and talk about you (people you dont even know) is also something a teen mom will go through, its all a great lesson. This girl did the right thing on many levels. Coming out in public and sharing it with her fans may seem like a bad thing now but, when you think about it, she could have easily had an abortion, she could have easily went into hiding and not give us the wonderful GIFT of her troubling experience. Many young teens are going to LEARN from this. Im sure on her part it was so difficult to come out and face the world with this huge mistake, she is scared of her future, she has to be unsure (given her sisters life) of her parenting ability and probably freightened of what her little body is about to experience. Look at the many teens who HIDE their pregnancy and dump their babies in garbage cans or leave them someplace to freeze to death. They end up in jail, thats a lot worse then your teen coming to you and saying I ready to face my responsiblity, coming out is a strong honerable thing she did and that lesson should be noted as well. With that said : Please give this young woman respect and your prayers. Im sure her and her baby could use some kindness at this time.

I know of many young mothers who've done just fine, even without a rich or supportive family. She'll be fine and so will the baby.

I think she will make a GREAT mother. She knows, from her sister, how she is´nt suppose to be, and I think she is going to be very responsible. If you have heard the interview, she said that she kept the baby, because she wanted to take responsibility for what she had done. And I agree. If you don´t protect yourself, then you should be ready to take the consequence, and she has done that. I would have done the same.

I do believe that 16 is way too young to be having a baby, but I hope that she has learned from watching others and takes care of this baby. I think the really bad thing is that I have a 9 year old daughter that loves her and watches her on tv all the time and now she is asking questions about how is she having a baby at such a young age. I'm just wondering if my daughter will ever be able to look up any of these stars?? So far theres been no luck its like these days everyone is starting things at a very young age and I don't want my children thinking it is ok because its not!! She's mature for her age, so she should have learnt from her sisters mistakes and i think she'll be a great mum, it's just ashame that it will ruin what remains of her teenage-hood.
