My father was far more abusive than Britney's and my childhood was very traumatic. But I have two sons and never once treated them poorly, neglected them, or had DFCS at my door. My Dad never paid attention to me except to put me down and degrade me but I married a fantastic guy who treats me wonderfully. You decide how to live your own life. You can't blame everything on your upbringing.

She's no different than any other child growing up in an alcoholic home. I know, it happened to me, and it was horrible, to say the least. But you have two choices. You can continue the dysfunctional pattern or you can learn and grow from it. Luckily I did the latter. You can't blame your parents or your childhood for the decisions you make as an adult. It showed me exactly what I didn't want to become.
