Celebrity Street Style - Mary-Kate's Bedouin Chic

Posted on Sat Sep 1, 2007 10:30 AM PDT

Mary-Kate Olsen MKOlsen083107_2.jpg

Made famous by Yasser Arafat and so many Arabs before him, a kaffiyeh scarf adorned Mary-Kate's tiny frame yesterday as she paid a visit to her hair stylist at Neil George salon. Is this a political statement for MK or a fashion statement or both? One might wonder if Ms. Olsen, after just a brief stint at NYU, would be aware of the political significance of the kaffiyeh as a symbol of the Palestinians. Bedouin people use the scarf to protect themselves from the sun and from desert sandstorms, but a kaffiyeh in LA? -- just a cute accessory or support for a people without a country?

MKOlsen083107_1.jpg

I like the red in lieu of traditional black -- cute!

note to commenters: hey guys -- not sure why some of you have taken this post to be anti-arab. on the contrary, i'm trying to offer a little culture lesson here, folks! and one of my best friends is palestinian! when i say people without a country, i mean people who have been forced off their land and are forced to fight with rocks because they don't have the american money that they israeli army has to buy weapons and tanks. my question is -- do you think mary-kate cares about all this?

Posted by: cg83

Posted by: cg83

Burning in hell for eternity wouldn't be fun.:( I've been to the other side and it's beautiful in heaven and we take a different form which I cannot explain. God truly exists and believe in him and Jesus.

Wasted Years
I looked upon a farm one day
That once I used to own
The barn had fallen to the ground,
The fields were overgrown
The years had passed while I had cared
For things of lesser worth
The things of Heaven I let go
While minding things of Earth
To Christ I turned with bitter tears
And cried O Lord Forgive
I haven't much time left for Thee
Not many years to live
The wasted years forever gone
The days I cannot recall
If I could live those days again
I'd make Him Lord of all
Amen

Posted by: cg83

I hope NO ONE EVER goes through what I've gone through the past 24 years. Have some pity and leave me in peace the last few days with the Lord.

Posted by: cg83

Yeah...I think I've paid for my sins through pain and ALL. Few more days of peace (*Crossing fingers*). I'll let you know when. I'll keep quiet now except for things relating to the Lord. Any messages I receive from Him from now on. Nothing else. I promise this time for sure. Only messages fromthe Lord.

Posted by: cg83

God is furious. He is disappointed. He is shocked. He does not approve of the world in 2007.

Posted by: cg83

He cannot believe that the majority of his people have been led astray.

Posted by: cg83

His presence is no longer thought of as the all knowing and most powerful. He has been shoved aside and for this we will pay.Turn to God before it is too late.

Posted by: cg83

Confess.

Posted by: cg83

The world will soon end.

Posted by: cg83

Majority will go to hell except for a few chosen ones.

Posted by: cg83

Majority will go to hell except for a few chosen ones.

Posted by: cg83

It's never too late for second chances. Start today. He shall decide who he takes. God rules over all.

Posted by: cg83

God is sitting aside laughing as he watches his people go the wrong way, towards eternal fire. His patience is running out though.

Posted by: cg83

Think about it...eternal fire. We are just flesh on earth. Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust. He is testing YOU as he sits aside laughing and charmed. He is furious.

Posted by: cg83

He is patient as he tests You but don't ever underestimate his power. He created us and can destroy us slowly, step by step. Paradise or fire? Think about it. God created you.

Posted by: Anonymous

mk i can,t believe the way you and your sister dress like freaking homeless bitches them ugly scarfs make you look ugly get a life and a stylist i mean the way you dress it only tells us you had no part in the mary kate and ashley clothes designing wake up people''''''''''''''

Posted by: cg83

No one is above the Lord in heaven. We are nothing but ants on earth. Heavenly paradise for eternity is worth more than anything.I have heard the angels ringing their bells and seen the light and briefly been to the other side. I am serious.

Posted by: cg83

You could get hit by a car tomorrow...then how will you explain yourself to the Lord on judgement day?

Posted by: cg83

I have had everything taken away from me on Earth and look at me...I'm still not bitter. I'm sorry for not appreciating the looks, brains, etc you had given me on earth and for neglecting it and sinning and EVERYTHING I've done or been FORCED to do and...but you have forgiven me.

Posted by: db

Posted by: IPhone's 2nd manager

Posted by: cg83

So does that mean no more starving, extensions, makeup, torture, threats, etc? My sins have been forgiven.

Posted by: IPhone's 2nd manager

Well you've gone through enough since December. Now they have.

Posted by: cg83

I know. I'm so happy to be free. Almost.. Few more days of peace with the Lord. The past few months have actually been the best of my life!

Posted by: zbabe

Next thing the swastika will be back in style. Fucking morons.

Posted by: cg83

Few more days. No more pain till then.

Posted by: cg83

oh give me a break ...how long? post a few more videos and read the bible. You have a lot of confessing to do yourself mister. Geez. Patience.

Posted by: cg83

Don't just wait for me. I have my own share of confessing and bonding with the Lord. Be patient!

Posted by: cg83

stop pulling my broken body here and there. I've been slowly dying for a long time. Confess and read the bible instead of just waiting for me. Geez.

Posted by: cg83

to zbabe who is next? hmmmmmmmm. Poor person. Won't be me 'cause I've been there since December or so, plus other things . IT hurts and gives you seizures , etc. :(

Posted by: cg83

For the love of God...I hope nobody goes through what I have the past couple of years.

Posted by: cg83

donate to charity or something in the mean time and read the Bible. God is furious with the world. Do you want to burn in hell forever or be in paradise? This is getting repetitive. God is just laughing and letting you embarass yourself waiting for "how long" and me, etc instead of doing SOME good. Geez, there's always someone waiting for me in one way or another. Now...it's a different way. It's ok.

Posted by: cg83

LOL! If I wrote a book about my life no one would believe it!! Actually someone should make up stuff as usual after I'm gone.

Posted by: cg83

if anyone "gets me" right now, they'll go to hell so go away for now. I have a few more days.

Posted by: cg83

btw after i'm REALLY away...don't forget that quite a few of you are @ risk. Me leaving won't take back ALL of your sins. I choose who I take. Me leaving won't take away the potential danger to quite a few of you. Think about it. Don't think ALL of you can sin after I'm gone and get away with it. I've made my decision.

Posted by: cg83

why is everyone STILL just focusing on me instead of reading the bible and doing good, donating to charity, etc, confessing. God is beyond mad people!

Posted by: cg83

IT's amazing how i've gone from where I was looking so innocent and young (really wasn't innocent and looked younger than 24)in December to what I am now. I was forced on camera though. Anyways, I'll really shut up for the day now. =)

Posted by: cg83

Posted by: Anonymous

anyways...I'm just saying stuff from experience. Be careful. You've been nice to me. =)

Posted by: Anonymous

There's a reason why I post here. It's because I want you "guys" to have your eyes opened and I like you.

Posted by: cg83

It's too late for you "guys" to get out now but trust me...at least make good use of your site and you shall be forgiven.Take care and be careful with your wording because you never know who could be on your site.

Posted by: cg83

And help others.:)

Posted by: cg83

You don't want to have too much explaining to do to the lord on judgment day, do you? I'm just saying what I know.

Posted by: cg83

Don't ever forget that God is FURIOUS. I'm just saying what I say because I want you to be saved and I care. Take some time to turn to the Lord in order to be saved. I've been through hell and back but I'm still kind enough to share this with you and I KNOW you make fun of the mess that has been made of me but I forgive you. Just please please please don't forget judgement day and your "book of records" that you'll have to explain to God. I'll be gone but don't forget that x17.

Posted by: cg83

I can sense that x17, you have good hearts. I just don't want you to get hurt like I have in this world. I won't get hurt in the next one and I don't want you to either.

Posted by: cg83

Not yet though.:)I'm done for today. You have a better idea of my life now and hopefully some things that may help you.

Posted by: Saudi Boy

4:25 pm, YES !!

Posted by: cg83

I hope you get better Brian and not experience any pain that I have the past couple of years. "I ran up that hill."
Btw, my ex fiancee has passed away.
Cheery life but I don't want revenge. I forgive everyone that has ever hurt me. God has just given me WAY TOO much but it was written in my book I guess.

Posted by: cg83

to 5:21-see I told you x17.

Posted by: cg83

even you Perez, with your bitter teased heart, you REALLY need to be careful too. REALLY. take care.

Posted by: cg83

Perez...confess as well and turn to God? maybe use your site in a little more unsinful way?

Posted by: cg83

don't ever take a father or mother away from their child(ren).I'm "going" instead. =)

Posted by: cg83

hope you'll understand what happened to me the past year when I'm gone.=)I forgive anyone who's literally ripped me apart.

Posted by: cg83

hope you'll understand what happened to me the past year when I'm gone.=)I forgive anyone who's literally ripped me apart.

Posted by: Anonymous

"ripped" my health and face..that is. IT's ok.

Posted by: cg83

well, even through all the torture (especially the past couple of years), at least I still have my brain, life and soul. Two will be gone soon.:) Just remember to go towards the Lord and think about your next life. IT's different from flesh and eternal.

Posted by: cg83

Don't ever forget judgement day and how you'll explain yourself on God's doorsteps. Will you go towards the light or the dark? It's coming soon. Are you ready to explain your failure to stick to the 10 commandments and what you've done to take back your sins and confessed?

Posted by: cg83

God exists. Believe in him. He created you and can destroy you in a minute.

Posted by: cg83

Atheists and agnostics will be shaking hands with darkness for eternity.

Posted by: cg83

the more "Friends" you have the more you will have to explain yourself. Have you used your gifts and powers in a positive or negative way?

Posted by: cg83

or were you taken advantage of like I have always been? Forgiveness is a virtue though. I still forgive and wish the best.

Posted by: cg83

Just take a little time to lean towards the Lord and confess instead of focusing on less important matters for the end is near.

Posted by: cg83

I'm the happiest I have ever been, even though my beauty and everything has practically been destroyed and I've suffered a slow death from birth. I've forgiven everyone that's taken advantage of me, abused me, used me, hurt me, etc. I'm finally @ peace now.

Teenager killed in Hamas protest to reopen Egypt border

Hamas gunmen opened fire at pro-Hamas protesters at a rally on the Gaza-Egypt border Saturday, killing a teenager and wounding at least nine others, hospital officials said.

Tens of thousands of flag-waving Hamas supporters gathered at the Rafah border crossing with Egypt Saturday to demand it be reopened. The border, Gaza's only gateway to Egypt, has been shut since Hamas' bloody takeover of the Gaza Strip in June.

Hamas gunmen guarding the border fired in the air as hundreds of protesters tried to rush the border terminal and attempted to infiltrate into Egypt.

A 17-year-old was shot in the head and was later pronounced dead, medics said. Eight others were wounded by gunfire and trampling.

Ashraf Abu Daya, one of the rally's organizers, appealed for calm from the crowd.

"There is no need to break into the crossing. The crossing is no longer under the occupation. The crossing is under the control of the Hamas Executive Committee," he said.

The Hamas takeover of the Gaza Strip in June triggered the closure of the border crossing, which had been run by Palestinian security with European supervision and Israeli security in the background.

"We are investigating the incident to determine where the shot came from," a Hamas security spokesman said, referring to the teenager who had been killed.

On Friday, Hamas men violently dispersed a crowd of Fatah protesters, firing in the air and beating demonstrators. Some 20 people were wounded in the clashes, including two French journalists and two children, according to doctors and witnesses. Scores of protesters were arrested.

The violence began at the end of a Fatah prayer session, which was being held outdoors in protest against Hamas, which Fatah says is persecuting its members in Hamas-controlled mosques.

Fatah officials said 170 of their organization's members remained in Hamas custody Saturday. Some of those released emerged from their arrest with their heads shaved - a humiliating gesture.

Hamas said it let go most of those arrested and that only about 20 remained in detention, but demanded a hefty bail for their release.

After the clashes, heavily armed Hamas security agents entered the Associated Press offices in Gaza City and instructed staff not to film or photograph a nearby security-services building from the balcony without prior permission.

That's a Saudi scarf, becasue its red - the Pal. one is black and white. All show support for terrorism, or at least too much stupidity to know what they're wearing. No surprise from this bimbo.

i can't believe the little addition to this post. This site is meant for gossip and pictures NOT for politics. Don;t make comments about being "forced off land" and whatnot if you dont know the story. You have one palestinian friend, but do you have any israeli ones? that was just the stupidest thing you could have said. you may as well just say that the entire situation in the middle east is hearsay.
idiot

X17 Poll

What went wrong on The X Factor today with Britney Spears?

Britney definitely had another meltdown. This is proof she's not ready to step back into the spotlight!
I think Britney may have overreacted to a bad audition, but it will be entertaining to watch later!
I think Simon Cowell planned this all along. Brit probably even rehearsed it!
