Jackson's Family Attempted An Intervention

With reports surfacing that an overdose of the prescription drug Demerol may have led to the sudden death of Michael Jackson, People magazine is reporting his family once tried to have an intervention in Las Vegas.
According to the magazine, back in 2006 Jackson family members gathered in the hopes the pop star would seek treatment for his reported dependence on prescription painkillers.
"The family believes Michael was addicted," People reports. "There was an intervention in Las Vegas. Janet was on the phone, but Randy, Jackie and Rebbie were there in person," a source said.
Michael reportedly became angry at the family's accusations, saying "he wasn't on drugs."
At the time of the intervention, the family feared a Jackson confidant was providing him powerful prescription drugs obtained from several doctors.
Jackson allegedly regularly consumed alcohol and took morphine, Demerol and opiates like Oxycontin, as well as anxiety drugs like Valium and Xanax.
After Jackson's death, family attorney Brian Oxman said he believed drugs will prove to be a factor.
"If you think that the case of Anna Nicole Smith was an abuse, it's nothing in comparison to what we have seen in Michael Jackson's life," Oxman told CNN.

Clearly desperate for a story, X17 is implying that MJ was abusing drugs and alcohol before the coroner issues a report or the family issues a statement. yesterday seems so unreal.first farrah and then michael.just can't beleive all this has happened. poor farrah such a fighter finally resting in peace. altho michael was very strange he was a great performer and also a very kind and loving person. i hate that this happened and feel bad for his kids and family.he is an icon and will never be forgotten. O MY GOSH! When i heard the news i was shocked and wa not going to believe it because i was at camp and we got it by text message so i was not sure. but then when i saw my my she said it was true. i really am still shocked and will alway's be shocked no matter how far it is in time i will alway love him and his music. With his death it really hits home to me. Since Chris Brown was his idol and the only reason he was dancing and singing the first thing i thought about was him. I really hope that he is ok and realize that it is time for somebody to step up and be like him.
