Ticket Details Announced For Michael Jackson's Public Memorial
Posted on Fri Jul 3, 2009 10:35 AM PDT
At a press conference held this morning at the Staples Center, Tim Leiweke (the president/CEO of AEG Live) announced that 17,500 tickets will be made available - 11,000 of those will be for the memorial service at the Staples Center and 6,500 will be for those attending the service at the Nokia Theatre, which will be a simulcast on three screens.
Fans can go to staplescenter.com to register for tickets starting this morning, and registration will continue until 6pm on Saturday. 8,750 fans will be randomly selected and given two tickets each, and they will be notified of these selections on Sunday between 11am and 8pm. They will then be given a code, sent to ticketmaster.com and they will be able to pick up the tickets and wristbands on Monday.
Leiweke stressed that no tickets will be sold for the memorial service, and there will be absolutely no distribution of tickets at the Staples center or LA Live. Though there will be no outside broadcast, there WILL be a pool feed, so fans all over the world can experience the event from home. Leiweke added that it was the Jackson family's wish to create a service and celebration that all of Michael's fans could be a part of, and they request and encourage everyone to join the memorial service by following the pool feed on television. There will be no funeral procession.
Jackson family spokesperson Ken Sunshine added that this would be "all about the fans" and the Jackson family hopes to accommodate as many of them as possible. Councilwoman Jan Perry extended her condolences to the Jackson family and stated that her goal is to make this event "a dignified and uplifting memorial."
So what can those lucky enough to snag tickets expect on Tuesday morning? Yesterday Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich (who will produce the event) told Access Hollywood that the memorial would "not be a tribute, not a show...it will be a memorial service reflecting the dignity of what the family wants. It will be a fitting memorial to Michael Jackson – no dance numbers." Ehrlich did say the service would include "some types of performances."
....and staplescenter.com will crash any minute now....

JUST ANOTHER DEAD JUNKIE. WORTHLESS NEWS.
GG, Bury this poor man please. Quit exploiting this whole sad story and allow him and his family some peace. Morbid public curiousity, like the Elephant Man!!
If anything good comes out of this, I hope all the junkies of Hollywood will clean up so they don't end up next to MJ.
Right on !
I'm with Anon. Please bury this guy.
Fry the doctors for enabeling. Can't wait to see what happens now.
Thank-you Michael on the behalf of Stockton,Ca.,and the children of Clevland Elementary and staff. You came to our school immediately after you heard students and staff were killed by an adult intruder.WE WILL NEVER FOREGET YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only sad false idol worshippers will show up to praise a dead corpse.
That is so sick.
There's something wrong with this world when a guy like this gets this much attention. What kind of person does it take to worship someone like him? Sure, he wasn't proven quilty but, he wasn't proven innocent either. Oh well, it's a good example of what our media stands for today.
Very scary face!
Gonna turn black from rot if they don't plant him soon.
ashes to ashes, dust to dust; so the body is. The soul is what's important.
What shall it profit a man, if he gained the whole world and lost his own soul. Please, don't lose your soul !
Michael was a good man. No one really knows if he did what the media says he did, but he did what many celebrities don't have the time to do. He gave to the poor, he respected them too. He cried, and understood there pain. I'm not saying to praise michael, but people should respect him as a person. He was born, he ate, he used the bathroom like all of us humans. He had suffered enough in his life time. It was a surprising death but in God's eyes.. It was his time to go. We love you Michael, R.I.P. This is your time to be in peace now. You will always be remembered.
