Paris Jackson Tells Oprah She Didn't Understand Why Dad Michael Made Her Wear Masks In Public

The whole world wondered why Michael Jackson made his children wear masks in public for years, and now his daughter Paris is speaking out about her bizarre childhood with her late father.

During a sit down on Oprah's Next Chapter, the 14-year-old revealed to the talk show host how she felt about her upbringing, and explained she now understands her dad's intentions for their intensely guarded privacy.

"I was really confused. I didn't get why I was wearing a mask. But I understand it now -- why my dad would want our faces to be covered. When we went out without him we wouldn't be recognized," she said during the interview.

The teen, along with brothers Prince and Blanket, maintains she and her siblings enjoyed a 'normal' childhood, complete with trips to Chuck E. Cheese's and arcades, something her pop star father was never given the chance to experience.

"He told us that when he was younger he didn't really have a childhood. He would always be stuck in the studio singing while the kids were out playing. He wanted us to have that," she said.

MJ's famous offspring, who now live with their grandmother Katherine Jackson at her Encino estate, have adjusted to life without their dad, but his passing "never gets any easier," according to his only daughter.
