This Is It Drums Up Oscar Talk!

Aside from its strong box office intake, there's already Academy Award buzz for the Michael Jackson musical doc This Is It...

While it's not applicable for the best documentary category, could the pic be nominated for one of the ten best films at the Oscars? (Yeah, there's gonna be TEN this year.) The hype surrounding MJ is pretty strong!

Sidebar, the King of Pop has earned $72 million in earnings since his death, according to Forbes. Jackson has earned $90 mil in the last year, but $72 mil came after June 25th, and that's not even counting This Is It yet!

The documentary opened wide in 3,500 domestic theaters (and worldwide) last night. Did you see it???

Crazy!

Why the fuss over a stupid dead junkie?

That would make the oscars even more meaningless then they are now. Riding on silly sentiment.........
I was just hoping that we would finally have laid poor MJ to rest after this movie. People we need to move on now. Enjoy his music, wallow in our own memories but please please please no more mass-hysteria.

You are right if they give the oscar to
this ..what is it again concert NO REHEARSAL OF HIS PERFORMANCE BEFORE THE
TOUR.. Why not nominate it for a musical
award instead... Please REHEARSAL OF HIS
CONCERT TOUR that he never got to do..
What another Heath Ledger where the Jackson get to show up and accept in his
honor.. They should of just let MJ rest in peace exploited this rehearsal so that Katherine can make more money than
ever Hope Sony does not get back the 50
million they bought the rights too..

I saw it last night and it was a really wonderful movie and a touching tribute to a great performer. I remember sitting through the movie and thinking that this documentary is better than most movies I've seen this year.

I do think the movie was very well put together, and MJ's performances were absolutely amazing, considering these were just rehearsals, not even final rehearsals. It really brought back what a great performer we have lost.

I personally saw the movie and to be honest it really exceeded expectations. WOW WHAT A GENIUS.

I think he should be nominated. I NEVER watch movies three times, but with This Is It, I did, and to be honest, I could see it again. In true Michael Jackson style, he had the audience captivated from the first chord of the song, to the last second. Just don't drink ANYTHING at least a couple hours beforehand, because you won't want to have to leave to go pee!

X17 Poll

What went wrong on The X Factor today with Britney Spears?

Britney definitely had another meltdown. This is proof she's not ready to step back into the spotlight!
I think Britney may have overreacted to a bad audition, but it will be entertaining to watch later!
I think Simon Cowell planned this all along. Brit probably even rehearsed it!
