What better legacy than a beautiful daughter ... Michelle Williams took daughter Matlida for lunch Thursday in Beverly Hills and we couldn't help but notice the striking resemblance between the 6-year-old and her late father, Heath Ledger.

Williams is currently dating actor Jason Segel and the pair divide their time between New York and LA. Rumors last month claimed the couple were engaged, but reports were quickly dispelled by Williams' rep.

Still, the pair are "totally in love," according to an Us Weekly source. Michelle and Jason have been friends for years, through mutual pal Busy Philips, but have kept their romance under wraps. News of their relationship broke in March.

It was rumored that Jason Segel had popped the question to girlfriend Michelle Williams at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, but there was no sign of an engagement ring as the happy couple landed in NYC with her six-year-old daughter, Matilda Ledger, on Saturday afternoon.

The adorable trio have been spotted on numerous outings together, and Segel has become a father figure to Matilda, whose father Heath Ledger, suddenly passed away when she was just two years old. The Muppets star has also proudly shown off a sticker with a picture of Michelle on the back of his iPhone, so he can see her beautiful face everywhere he goes!

The My Week with Marilyn star was actually introduced to Segel through her BFF Busy Philipps, and the pair remained friends for several years before taking their relationship to the next level. Think there are wedding bells in the couple's near future?

Despite the fact that they're rarely ever seen out together, there's no denying Michelle Williams and Jason Segel are an item!

The adorable pair met for a romantic dinner date in NYC on Thursday night, and the usually demure My Week With Marilyn star looked sexy in a low cut LBD, while Segel looked dapper in a black suit and tie.

The pair have been dating since the beginning of the year, and sources close to the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star say he's totally in love with Michelle, and has even become a father figure to her 7-year-old daughter Matilda, who lost dad Heath Ledger when she was just two.

Segel has only opened up once about Williams, telling Extra during an interview in April: "I think we would just very much like to be happy. That's all I'm going to say about it."

The Independent Spirit Awards were held Saturday in Santa Monica -- a precursor to the Oscars, but not always a good barometer of who will win Sunday night.

As their name implies, the Indie Awards are focused on "artist-driven filmmaking" and "independent thinkers."

Still, The Artist was the big winner yesterday - taking the prize for Best Feature and Best Actor, for Jean Dujardin. The film has led all the awards events so far, so we imagine Harvey Weinstein and Dujardin are preparing for a win tonight!

Michelle Williams picked up the other big award yesterday, for Best Female Lead in My Week With Marilyn.

The awards were hosted by Seth Rogan, who recently picked up a significant award himself -- the actor was named Stone of the Year by High Times magazine ... congrats, Seth!

An estimated 150 Academy Award nominees gathered for the annual luncheon held in their honor at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Monday, but it was Best Actor noms George Clooney and Brad Pitt who stole the show!

Clooney, who looked dapper in a dark silver suit, is expected to win the Best Actor nod for his role in The Descendants, but he says his favorite part of awards season is getting to hang out with old friends.

"A lot of people at home think we all hang out together. I think they think we're always at the Hilton drinking champagne. The truth is I hadn't seen Brad in about a year" Clooney told reports at the luncheon. "So it's fun to catch up, and it's fun to see people I like and haven't seen in a long time."

The Moneyball star also joked with reporters of his old pal, saying, "I met this guy named George. G-g-george, Jorge Clooney. Very nice guy. Very personable and very nice guy."

Meanwhile, Best Actress nominee Michelle Williams looked pretty and sweet in a 60's-inspired shift dress from Victoria Beckham's new line, "Victoria," which perfectly complimented her cute pixie 'do.

She's already won the Golden Globe, but wIll Michelle take home the Oscar for My Week With Marilyn?
