The actress has come a long way from The Social Network!
David Fincher is directing Rooney Mara, as Lisbeth Salander, in the American remake of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and now Mara graces the cover of W Magazine for their February 2011 Movie Issue.

The 25-year-old underwent a huge transformation for a role that many, many actresses auditioned for. But Fincher claims he wanted Mara "from the beginning."
Fincher adds: "Rooney maybe a trust-fund baby from football royalty but she’s level headed and hard working. It’s so odd how who people are comes out in auditions. We didn’t make it easy for Rooney and there was no way to dissuade her."
So... does she look the part?
Yes!

why does hollywood always need a remake. the original one was as good as it was that's why it became a huge success worldwide. is it because some americans can't read any subtitles?! It's pathetic...
She doesn't look as good as Noomi Rapace. She is the real Salander!
No one can compare to Noomi Rapace!
Why try to change what's already perfect?
If her goal was to look ugly then she definitely succeeded
I agree no one can compare to Noomi Rapace and the original is to perfect to be remade and messed up
