The Social Network Comes In Number One At Box Office
Posted on Sun Oct 3, 2010 09:40 AM PDT

Is anybody really surprised?
The David Fincher-directed drama, from a script by Aaron Sorkin, has nearly flawless reviews and tons of Oscar buzz already. Plus not only does it star Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake as the founders of Facebook and Napster, there's also Andrew Garfield (who's playing Spider-Man in the reboot of that franchise) and Rooney Mara (next playing the title role in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo remake).
Now The Social Network has claimed the number one spot at the box office its opening weekend, raking in $23 million. Congrats all around!
If you haven't seen the sure to be award winner yet, do so quickly! Not only is it evocative of our online times, it's also a brilliant biopic destined to be a classic.
Best Picture perhaps?
Maybe!

this movie looks stupid. there's no way i'm spending $10 to go see that
So after flawless reviews and Oscar buzz this film opened with barely more than the Bounty Hunter did its opening weekend. Come to think of it Wall Street opened with Bounty Hunter numbers too.
So my question is this: Why are these two films considered hits when they did Bounty Hunter numbers?
Excellent movie.
Well done.
I loved it.
It made me actually like Mark Zuckerberg who I had hated before.
A movie about the creation of virtual friends for people who have no friends, that'll be awesome.
Could not think of a more BORING idea for a film. Yawn.
I wonder if “The Social Network” will cover Zuckerberg, class of ‘06, breaching security, violating copyright and student privacy to create facemash. com and hacking ConnectU and Friendster.
The New Yorker’s Jose Antonio Vargas verified the recently released Zuckerberg IM’s are authentic.
Here's the part of the story where Vargas quotes the IMs:
The technology site Silicon Alley Insider got hold of some of the messages and, this past spring, posted the transcript of a conversation between Zuckerberg and a friend, outlining how he was planning to deal with Harvard Connect:
FRIEND: so have you decided what you are going to do about the websites?
ZUCK: yea i’m going to f uck them
ZUCK: probably in the
In another exchange leaked to Silicon Alley Insider, Zuckerberg explained to a friend that his control of Facebook gave him access to any information he wanted on any Harvard student:
ZUCK: yea so if you ever need info about anyone at harvard
ZUCK: just ask
ZUCK: i have over 4000 emails, pictures, addresses, sns
FRIEND: what!? how’d you manage that one?
ZUCK: people just submitted it
ZUCK: i don’t know why
ZUCK: they “trust me”
ZUCK: dumb f ucks
Other Zuckerberg IM’s have been released but those two give the reader insight into his lack of ethics.
I'm sorry. The Zuckerberg IM at 12:09 is incomplete.

LOL - Should have been a TV movie of the week.
