newmoonpresaletix.jpg

Taylor Lautner's New Moon Co-Star Blasts His New Flick On Twitter

newmoonbeef.jpg

Ouch! Taylor Lautner's fellow New Moon werewolf Alex Meraz (far left) has taken a huge swipe at the star on Twitter, tearing into his upcoming romantic comedy Valentine's Day!

Alex tweeted, "Sorry Taylor but the movie Valentine's Day looks lame and desperate ... It cries out, 'look we have all the biggest starz in 1 movie pleez watch!'" Alex continued, "P.S. it has nothing to do with the talented actors in the movie. I just don't like the producer & Directors' 'get rich quick skeem' nuff said."

Hmm, is someone jealous that they didn't get a part in the movie? It stars Julia Roberts, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Ashton Kutcher, Taylor Swift and Bradley Cooper among others, so yes, it's loaded with starpower, but that's certainly not a reason to hate it!

Alex later added, "Talk about biting the hand that feeds me...but I'm a wolf for crying out loud! I'll be careful next time I spill twitter all over everyone."

Stop howling, boy!

MJ, Lady Gaga And New Moon Top Google Searches Of 2009!

topgoogle.jpg

Well this isn't too surprising!

Google has released their 2009 Year-End Zeitgeist lists and Michael Jackson comes in at #1, making his name the most searched item for this year. (The King of Pop died suddenly on June 25th - X17online was the first to break the news that MJ was hospitalized AND the first to post pix of him arriving at UCLA Medical Center...)

Rounding out the list are the phrases "facebook," "twitter," "new moon" and "lady gaga." Check out the entire top ten list below the cut!

Hmm, no Jon and Kate? Chris Brown/Rihanna? And Britney Spears has completely disappeared from the list!

New Moon Tops Holiday Box Office

newmoontopsboxoffice.jpg

New Moon beat out new releases to top the box office this Thanksgiving, with a $66 million haul over the five-day holiday, which brings its' total to $230.7 million. And that's just the domestic gross.

Variety reports that the second installment of the Twilight series outgrossed Sandra Bullocks' The Blindside, disaster mega-movie 2012 and new release Old Dogs to take the top spot of the biggest Thanksgiving box office ever.

I was one of those people who took in the flick over the holiday and I gotta say, it's worth all the hype!

New Moon Still Tops Box Office

newmoonpostersmall.jpgDespite three new wide releases hitting theaters this weekend, The Twilight Saga: New Moon is still on top, with a $14.3 million box office take. That brings the six-day total for the film to $179 million!

Numbers are expected to rise with most Americans having Black Friday off.

Sandra Bullocks' The Blind Side is in second; 2012 is in third with $3.6 million; and Ninja Warriors is fourth.

Will YOU see New Moon (again!) this Thanksgiving weekend?

New Moon Director: "This Was Made For The Fans"

newmoondirector.jpg

I truly admire director Chris Weitz has an artist, and I also liked what he had to say to Entertainment Weekly about his New Moon receiving bad reviews...

"Given the media blitz that has accompanied New Moon, it's rather unsurprising. If one could imagine their biggest fears, it would be complete rejection of the movie by the fans. What I've realized over the last week is I won't necessarily get good reviews for this movie. Having swallowed that, this was made for the fans, and if you don't get it, then you don't get it."

Agreed! Leave New Moon alone!

Director David Slade is taking on Eclipse, but what about Breaking Dawn? Weitz is down for it, because he feels "a great deal of gratitude" for author Stephenie Meyer and the lead actors.

Can't wait for the next installment in June!

Have YOU Seen New Moon Yet?

newmoon19.jpgimage courtesy Summit Entertainment

Better hurry! Tickets are selling out everywhere.

We here at X17online enjoyed New Moon for the most part but, personally, I'm glad it didn't beat out The Dark Knight's record breaking weekend numbers at the box office. Whatever! The Dark Knight was a better film and that's that... right?

Is The Dark Knight a better film than New Moon?
Yes! Way better.
Uh, no way. Not at all.
You can't even compare the two!

New Moon Keeps Raking In The Cash...

newmoonweekend.jpg

...but not enough to knock The Dark Knight or Spider-Man 3 out of the two top spots!

New Moon took in an estimated $140.7 million at the domestic box office this weekend, falling behind The Dark Knight with 158.4 mil and Spider-Man 3 with $151.1 mil. It did bump POTC: Dead Man's Chest (with $135.6 mil) out of the third spot.

Now obviously, this is amaze. Props to everyone involved! That being said, we're a little surprised. Why?

Because New Moon's first midnight runs ($26.3 mil) and full Friday runs ($72.7 mil) both beat out The Dark Knight's numbers... so how come this didn't continue throughout the weekend?

So many questions!

New Moon Lives Up To Its Expectations

twilovers.jpgimage courtesy of Summit Entertainment

And then some!

Last night I caught a screening of New Moon here in Hollywood, and while the film hasn't been getting the best reviews, I loved it and I thought it was everything it needed to be.

Of course, the chemistry between Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart was electric from the start, but Taylor Lautner definitely had the surprise card up his sleeve! Half of the audience squealed with delight upon the first sighting of Jacob Black's chiseled abs, and the response was equally as deafening when we caught a glimpse of Edward Cullen's sparkly goodness a little bit later.

While there wasn't nearly enough Edward in New Moon, there was a reason for that and I definitely felt Bella's pain when she pined for her lover. Speaking of Bella, can I just say how gorgeous Kristen looked? She wore very minimal makeup, and there are numerous scenes where she's supposed to be worn out and depressed, yet she still looked stunning! It's easy to see why Rob can't keep his hands off of her, and I'm happy to report that there was a lot more smooching between the lovebirds in this installment of the Twilight franchise.

So what else did I love? Dakota Fanning was a fantastic and deliciously evil Jane Volturi, and Michael Sheen's take on Aro Volturi was just as impressive. Ashley Greene's Alice is the vampire I'd most like to be friends with, and I'm going to download the soundtrack as soon as I'm done writing this blog. Yeah, it was that good!

So what's NOT to love about the movie? For one, the CGI on the wolves was a bit laughable, but if you're a true Twilover and you're caught up in the movie, it almost doesn't even matter. The plot took off rather rapidly during the third act, and there were a few points where the dialogue made me cringe, but that happens with just about every movie so I'm not going to get too picky. New Moon isn't supposed to be an Oscar contender, it's supposed to be a huge blockbuster with a die hard fan following. If its midnight ticket sales on Thursday are any indication of the numbers it's going to pull this weekend, it's safe to say that this is THE biggest movie of the year. Nice work, guys. I give it a B-plus.

UPDATE!
New Moon has broken the record for highest opening-day gross ever! Summit Entertainment is reporting that New Moon earned $72.7 million on Friday, topping The Dark Knight’s previous record of $67.2 million.

robstenpostermid.jpg Holy vamp this is a big deal!

That's the biggest midnight movie debut ever, beating out previous record holders Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince ($22.2 million) and The Dark Knight ($18.4 million).

Can't WAIT to see it tonight!

New Moon At Midnight!

newmoon1119fix.jpgimages courtesy Summit Entertainment

The wait is finally over!

Rob Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Dakota Fanning star in New Moon, which starts showing at midnight tonight! Have YOU bought your tix in advance yet??? Better hurry, they're selling like crazy!

There's only one thing we're concerned about... reviews! Rotten Tomatoes.com - which compiles all major reviews for upcoming films - gives this consensus: "The Twilight Saga's second installment may satisfy hardcore fans of the series, but outsiders are likely to be turned off by its slow pace, relentlessly downcast tone, and excessive length."

What do we say? Whatever! This film is made for its fans anyway, right? Mixed reviews won't stop us from seeing it. How about you?

Will you see New Moon regardless of what the critics say?
Yes, of course!
No, I always go by the reviews.
I'm still undecided!

Miley Cyrus Is Anti-Twilight!

While the rest of us were drooling over photos of Robstener at the LA premiere of New Moon, Miley Cyrus was busy telling Cleveland radio station Q92 that "I don't want anything to do with it!"

When an interviewer asked her what she thought of the Twilight mania, Cyrus responded, "I've never seen it and nor will I ever." Cyrus continued, "I don't believe in it. I don't like vampires. ... I don't like the wolf that pops out of the screen when I'm watching my TV at night. I don't like it. I don't want anything to do with it. I don't like the shirts. I don't like any of it," the popstar said emphatically.

Harsh words considering she's set to work with Twilight's producers on a new fantasy film called Wings, which is somewhat like Twilight, but with fairies!

But I bet the Twilovers aren't too put off by Miley's comments. It's not like they've ever seen an episode of Hannah Montana either!
