Nicole Richie Blasted By PETA For Using Elephant At Wedding Reception

PETA is not thrilled with Nicole Richie and Joel Madden who brought in a massive elephant to their wedding reception over the weekend ... to be used for photographic purposes. Guests were able to get their photo taken with the pachyderm!
The People For Ethical Treatment of Animals sent the following statement to X17online:
- "We know that Nicole is sympathetic to the plight of animals in the circus and is opposed to the way in which baby elephants are slammed to the ground and gouged with steel-tipped bullhooks in order to train them for circuses such as Ringling Bros.
We're sure she didn't know that Have Trunk Will Travel—the company that likely provided Tai the elephant, who was taken from the wild as a baby more than 40 years ago—trains its elephants with bullhooks and electric shock prods. We're writing to her privately to respectfully ask her to keep exotic animals off her guest lists for future celebrations."
Don't mess with PETA, Nicole. Wonder if photos of the couple, as well as guests Khloe Kardashian and Rachel Zoe sitting on top of the creature, will surface anytime soon? Now THAT would be a wedding photo the newlyweds would have no problem selling.
Guess Nicole and Joel won't be getting a wedding gift from PETA.

The people of PETA are a bunch of psychos. They are probably all pro-choice and then get all worked up if a damn chicken dies.
The elephant is 40 years old. I'm sure he's used to his current lifestyle, is well fed and enjoys a comfortable lifestyle....I think PETA has overstated their case.

circus animals are treated with cruelty to train them, there is no denying that. It is sick and very sad that people could hurt an animal like that. Taking it out of its natural habitat and turning it into a circus act. I have never gone to a circus act and I never will, nor will my children.

Elephants recognise themselves in mirrors and mourn at funerals, they're cool animals, maybe the only ones that are self aware, they are definitely the only animal that can't jump.

Oh,i know that Joel's album(GC) is a flop,but that her crappy book flopped too,is a blessing.These two idiots married by pressure,for already having kids,that were being called bastards by many people.But this forced marriage unfortunatelly doesn't change their kids status for the others.They still were born before the wedding.Nothing changed.
They got married,and NO word about it on Twitter yet.Looks like they are not happy or in love,or they would show all their happiness and share it with their fans.Strange behavior...regular couples share these moments with everybody.
