Nicole Scherzinger And Steve Jones Named X Factor Judges, Paula Abdul Close To Signing

Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger and British TV personality Steve Jones have been confirmed as hosts of Simon Cowell's newest talent competition series, The X Factor. The pair join music producer L.A. Reid and British pop star Cheryl Cole ... and of course, Cowell himself, on the judges' panel.
Meanwhile, a fourth seat remains empty but various reports say Cowell's holding it for his former American Idol pal Paula Abdul.
The first round of taping begins tomorrow in Los Angeles, so the agents and managers and lawyers better get Paula's deal done fast!
UPDATE: Deadline is reporting Paula Abdul sealed the deal late Saturday night. The taping of the first show begins today at 1 pm PT so Simon just barely pulled together his crew in time!
The X Factor will search for fresh solo and group talent, much like A.I.. The show premieres in September.
