Argo Wins Big At The 2013 Academy Awards, Ben Affleck Gives Emotional Acceptance Speech
Posted on Sun Feb 24, 2013 08:27 PM PDT

The 85th Academy Awards were held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday in Hollywood, and while host Seth MacFarlane wasn't nearly as awful as James Franco back in 2011, the Family Guy creator's jokes weren't anywhere near as good as his many musical numbers.
The telecast ran nearly 30 minutes over, but from Jennifer Lawrence tripping on her way to the podium to Joaquin Phoenix getting caught on camera being a bad sport, there was plenty of entertainment!
Of course, the big moment of the evening was when Ben Affleck finally took the stage with George Clooney and Grant Heslov to accept the Best Picture Oscar for Argo. Ben may have gotten snubbed after he failed to receive a Best Director nomination, but it looks like the Academy may have felt a bit remorseful over that decision, as the film also won Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing. Check out his speech below ... it was truly the highlight of the show for us!
Life of Pi took home four awards, including Best Director (Ang Lee), Cinematography, Best Original Score and Best Visual Effects. Despite being nominated in 12 categories, Lincoln only won two awards, for Daniel Day-Lewis as Best Actor in a Leading Role and for Achievement in Production Design.
As expected, Anne Hathaway won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for playing Fantine in Les Miserables and Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress in a Lead Role for Silver Linings Playbook, and Django Unchained picked up awards for Best Original Screenplay (Quentin Tarantino) and Best Supporting Actor (Christoph Waltz).
