Besides, he's SO textbook Bipolar II (depression, anxiety, paranoia, acting like a sex maniac, self-medicating) that he makes Brit-Brit look sane.

I'd bet anything that he's on Depakote and HEAVY doses of lithium.

That stuff PILES on pounds but will keep a person mellow (if taken correctly).

Anonymous Too--You may have something. Remember when Jane Pauley developed bipolar when she was in her 40s? Usually bipolar rears its ugly head in the late teens, but there are the rare cases of late-onset bipolar. He does seem to exhibit those symptoms, plus he has been quoted as saying his dad is very moody (bipolar is inherited--Britney undoubtedly inherited hers from her grandma who committed suicide).

And unlike dear Brit, Owen is not fighting w/his family, or anybody else. He went thru a rough patch, and now its over.

He's by far NOT the cutest of the Owen brothers. Luke is better looking and has a nicer body :)!

Right! Owen's exact quote about his father was "major mood swings". Hmmm ...

Plus, I don't even think that it's a late-onset thing. Owen said himself in an interview that he was sent to therapy while in high school and then had to leave college in L.A. (and continue in Texas) because he was "homesick". Was that his first major breakdown?

People don't think bipolar right away with him because of his laid-back attitude but that "slacker" attitude may have been all chemically induced.

Anyway, I have a STRONG feeling that he's going to be taking an extended break from acting and entering a treatment facility that specializes in "dual diagnosis" - substance abuse and mood disorders. I hope so for his sake - he still doesn't seem all that well.

Maybe after some real treatment he'll go back to writing ...

8:40 - That wouldn't surprise me in the least. Did you see - or rather, hear - his MySpace interview with Wes Anderson and his presentation at the Oscars? I've lived with a person with bipolar disorder most of my life and I can identify someone on a bp med cocktail right away by that flat, tired yet over-correct (trying really hard not to be slurry) way of speaking. He is/was on some serious psych meds. It's definitely more than just substance abuse with Owen - bipolar is a real possibility.

I guess there is a mistake, Owen never went to LA college, he was classmate with Wes Anderson at Austin Texas University:everybody knows it!
Previously he attended Military school in New Mexico and S.Mark in Dallas

Sure - everyone knows that he attended college at the University of Texas, Austin with Wes Anderson - true - but, according to HIS OWN WORDS, he also went to LA for college for a little while. Maybe it was only for a month or so and then he got so emotional ("homesick") that he had to come home.

1.50, not trying to be argumentative with you, but I'm pretty sure The Sunday Mirror have mixed quotes from Owen & Luke up. (they sometimes put quotes from different internviews together & make it look like the actor has done an interview with them). On E's True Hollywood Story on the brothers a few months back, a friend said Luke went to college in LA but he never returned after Christmas his freshman year. There was no mention of Owen going to college anywhere other than Austin.

I do agree with you that Owen seems to have had issues going a while back. I'm sure I've read an interview in the past where he said that he gets depressed etc?

I also have read various articles, biographies etc about the Wilsons and they are consistent except for one article in an issue in 2003 of The Sunday Mirror as quoted in this forum.

Luke went to school for a short time in California and Owen at University of Texas at Austin. There were actual interviews with people who know them on the E True Hollywood Story. I don't think this is an issue they would try to cover up or misrepresent.

I hope Owen is doing well. I look forward to seeing more of his work. That is all I ask of him. He looks healthy to me.

IF Owen has bpII (and it's very commonly misdiagnosed as unipolar depression), it would be wonderful (once he felt able to) if he spoke out publicly against the stigma of mental illness. My brother has bipolar disorder and Owen has SUCH an amazing forum to really make a difference, particularly for men (who very often suffer in silence with depression, bp, etc). Of course Owen doesn't "owe" his fans any personal information (or anything - really - except a good performance) but it would be such a boon to those with mental disorders (and it might be helpful to Owen himself to "drop the mask" and unburden himself).
