Years ago I cut my wrist (not too deep) and it didn't even require a bandage. It actually healed up enough after a few days to wear my watch. Unless you've been so depressed to do something like this you wouldn't understand. I have been going through severe depression lately and even typed up a suicide note to give to my family. However, I am trying to overcome this and not do something stupid. Some people reach a point where they feel they can't go on, can't afford therapy, and just do it. Please be considerate of him at this time. It is very important that he be able to heal in private with his family and friends around him.

Depression is HORRIBLE and when people submit to trying suicide, the disease has reached a tragic, tragic level, and these people need to be helped, and NOT thought of as seflish. It boggles my mind that people think that someone who can barely scrape through each day in horrendous pain and who wants to escape that pain, as selfish! If you think that these people deserve to continue on from day to day in horrible, ridiculous pain, then YOU'RE the one that's selfish. You should be going out of your way to try and help them, not leave them to themselves and go, "Oh, I hope they get help." If you think depression is akin to having a really bad day or being in a shitty relationship, then you've got loads of reading and learning to do.
