I would like to know where these guys got the idea that they had the authority to throw anyone off of the beach? They should have been arrested yesterday. We can debate all day whether or not the papparazzi is morally right for snapping shots of celebs on the beach (I really fail to see why that's such a big problem) but the fact remains that it's a public beach and the police are the only ones who have the authority to force them to leave. There should be major criminal charges filed. These guys belong in jail and they also must be ordered to pay for all of the camera equipment they destroyed, as well as any medical bills that were run up as a result of these two incidents. to get to this beach, just take pch north from santa monica to Malibu , about 20 miles, turn left at Heathercliff, and another left at Dume Rd follow to end at Cliffside. Park follow trail down to beach.

I tried those directions but when I got there I couldn't park because tourists had all the spots. So I parked at county line and walked down the beach. That's easier.

The first incident there were a few shoves, yelling, and not until one of the paps started swinging a tripod or something that looked like a metal pole did the surfers start getting aggressive. well I dont really support either groups behaviours .. truth is, unfortunately some of the Malibu/Hollywood paparazzi seem to go way too far and get carried away .. as someone who has done pro photograpy these are not the kind of photos or films I would be seeking .. I'm my country celebs would normally get more privacy as well .. look at what paps/celeb media did to poor Britney - shameful, rediculous, harmful even .. there are maybe certain places where celebs/peeps pix should not be taken without their prior consent (if at all) or unless its a public event .. eg. @ house (front or back, including at beach), in shops, in restaurants, on the beach/at pool .. isn't it time for that socalled "Britney" Law or Bill now .. something like this was bound to happen eventually .. and frankly, either way, its still invasive .. if celebs and/or their mates don't want to be photographed at the beach or a private event, then maybe you should not .. how about leaving off with some of the celebs .. esp at the beach/malibu

RE: the earlier reference above to so called "Freedom of the Press" - I doubt that its absolute freedom, or was ever meant to be really - if it ends up abused it could conceively be changed/lost in some way - the laws could one day change in certain circumstances, especially after what happened to Britney, and many other pix from from Malibu beach and about peeps homes - so if some laws do eventually change e.g. at the beach, at the front or back of celebs homes, celebs vehicle no. plates, pursuing/chasing celebs and friends in cars or on motorbikes thru traffic, folling into shops, generally stalking - dont see how thats okay - such incidents could draw attention to these problems, and bring about action - if some laws change in California in relation to celeb paparazzi behaviour, and/or-paps/media end up in court themselves - keep goin and it will probably happen - well maybe its about time so maybe some good can come of it - I tend to believe there is NO REAL FREEDOM WITHOUT RESPONSIBILITY
