Paris Hilton may have a ton of money - but she sure knows how to put it to good use!

Hospital officials confirm that Paris made an "extremely generous" donation to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles yesterday.
While the hospital declined to specify the dollar amount the heiress donated, they did confirm that she'd given enough to make one double-patient as comfortable as a suite in the Hilton!
Paris Speaks Out
Hilton, for her part, was just as generous with her praise of the Childrens Hospital as she was with her money!
"I am so happy and fortunate to announce my support for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles," she said in a statement. "The fabulous new hospital facilities at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles will provide a caring, healing environment for children and their families for many years to come, and I am proud to make a donation and lend my name to the fundraising effort to help children who are facing terribly serious illnesses."
But this isn't the first act of generosity Paris has bestowed upon Children's Hospital of Los Angeles -- Paris has already been donating her time and resources to the hospital for over a year, giving portions of the proceeds from her PH Sportswear line launch at Kitsons, as well as spending a day at the Cancer ward visiting sick children.
We're proud for you too, Paris - way to make a difference!
Even Paris' most vicious haters can't fault her on this one!

Excuse me, "spending a day at the cancer ward"? That's it? You've got to be kidding me. How embarassing. She will never have the genuine caring, giving and natural grace of Princess Di -- whom Hilton claims to admire.
Giving a tiny percentage of the proceeds (that's after costs) to a hospital means very little. This "generous gift" was nothing more than a publicity stunt because interest in her has obviously faded, and she is still widely disrespected. There are so many people out there who give so much more of themselves -- without any strings attached -- without asking for or wanting any publicity or anything else in return. Now that's real class!
Paris has really grown up the past few years and has become quite a lady. It's nice to see her so happy and doing so well for herself. She should really be proud of herself.

I agree with Callie, and others. So do most of us. I see little change in Hilton at all. In just this past year, she has lied during her interviews and on her blogs. She has sold herself at casinos, yelling profanities to drunken crowds. She has also come out with nasty comments about others on public radio. And that vapid, vanity film she produced and starred in that was so awful? I see that she still uses a few charity efforts for photo-ops and publicity. Giving autographed photos of herself in a bikini? How incredibly gauche -- hardly the role model I would want my daughters to follow. Despite the obvious PR comments, I would say that this is hardly a lady. Sadly, I guess some things never change.
Paris, this is the kind of stuff we would love to see more of from you, and not just giving money, but also working events also.
