First of all, people are killed by drunk drivers all the time. So I am sick of people minimizing her offense. I have always felt that the legal system is too easy on drunk drivers, so I am glad that this case is bring attention to how people are punished for committing this very serious crime. Second, Paris lives with this false perception of reality which is essentially "this is my world, and everyone else is just living in it". Drinking and driving is a huge threat to society. On average, a person is killed every 1/2 hour by a driver under the influence. Paris is gambling with people's lives! Not only that, light treatment makes a public statement that it is OK to drink and drive. She wouldn't have had any jail time if she had complied with probation. Her original 23 days was for ignoring probation restrictions. The 45 days is for trying to game the system. She brought this on herself!

Drunk driving (she was stopped 3 times for it), weaving down a street, having her ex-boyfriend hanging off of her car while they drove down a main street - this IS a threat to society. I think you have that a little backwards ~ Sheriff Baca is the one making a mockery of the law. Judge Sauer explicitly stated in his May 4th order that there was to be NO electronic monitoring.

Baca came into office in 1998 ~ he has been questioned about celebrity favortism since 1999. Just last year the sheriff's dept announced that Mel Gibson had been arrested without incident ~ whoops, then the arrest report was leaked.

She got her licence suspended, FULLY knew of it, and yet continued to drive...and got caught doing so not ONCE, but TWICE. Reasons why we “haters” dislike Paris:

1) She is a Racist! She was caught on tape saying racist things about Hispanics, Blacks, Chinese, and Jews.

2) She denies responsibility for her own actions. She drove DUI and was given probation, DUI classes, and had her license suspended. She didn't attend the DUI classes and was caught driving on the suspended license 2 times. The first time she was made to sign a paper stating that she KNEW her license was suspended. So her stating that she was innocent because her publicist stated she could drive was a load of crap.

3) SHE IS AN IDIOT. An example of this is back in January she left a warehouse full of personal items like: videos of her using drugs and calling people slurs in parties, herpes medication, photos of her using various drugs, various sexual tapes of explicit nature. She didn’t pay the warehouse the fees for her storage and all her personal items were sent to auction which in turn were sold to someone else who put them online. Not paying $200 for storage is stupid enough when you’re a millionaire like Paris but who in their right mind would keep this stuff anyway. You would think that she would have learned from her porn tape leaking with Rick Solomon but as I stated already she is an IDIOT.

4) She is famous for being a drug addicted, non stop partying whore and sets a HORRIBLE example for today’s youth who looks up to this idiot.

They then gave her probation, she did not do it. They then told her to go to some AA classes for training on driving under the influence. She did NOT do it. She was then caught driving without a license (since it was suspended). They told her so and had her sign a paper, which she stated she knew she did not have license. The shortly after that, she was caught driving agian without a license and also violeted her parole. So in other words, she broke the law many times. Anyone else with all of that would have been put in jail immediatly. She was not. She was given special treatment, which is not fair to everyone else. The laws should apply to everyone the same. Then she shows up late for court, and tried to not show up at all. She was then rude to the judge and had a nasy attitude. She thinks she is above the law. She is not and is now finding out about it. She is a skank that flashes her privates (which is probably the reason you love her) and then she has a histroy of drinking and driving, doing drugs and just being plain nasty and rude. The next time she drinks and drives and possibly kills someone, will you still feal sorry for her!

I'd like to speak from experience - I have been in her position.

I am a Canadian professional in my late 30's. When I was 26 I was stopped by the police after a few beers - it turned out that I was just over the legal limit of .08 in my province. My breathalyzer readings were .10 and .09, respectively. The ironic part is that I honestly thought I was okay to drive - I learned that no matter what I thought, it is impossible to lie to a breathalyzer.

I was arrested on a Friday evening, and Monday was a holiday in Canada. I spent the weekend in jail before being handcuffed to several other prisoners and taken to court that Tuesday morning.

The experience was bad - I've never been arrested before or since, and all this was before I even went to court !!

I fought the charge, but lost.

The cost?

- $10,000 in legal fees
- $750 fine
- 1 year loss-of-license
- Alcohol course
- Taking my driver's exam / road test once I was eligible to drive again
- $3,500 per year car insurance for 5 years (up from $1,200)
- $1,500 for criminal records pardon and U.S. waiver to legally travel to the U.S. due to the conviction under the Canadian Criminal Code

The good news?

I never killed anyone, and the experience humbled me and made me realize how stupid I had been that night and other nights in my past.

I learned, and I have never done it again since.

I'm not rich. The leal fees and insurance fees wiped me out at the time.

When my license was suspended, I never drove. I had a co-worker drive me to and from work.

Paris got a DUI, and drove while suspended at least twice that we are aware of. She couldn't even respect the law after her DUI - why are you people feeling sorry for her? How can she learn if she isn't made to take responsibility for what she did?

Would it be better to let her party in her mansion with an ankle bracelt on? What kind of a lesson would that be?

Would it be better for her to learn a lesson now, or should she continue laughing at the law and eventually kill someone while drinking and driving? Let's go with learning her lesson now, not taking someone else's life and destroying her own in the future.

If anybody else gets probation & breaks it, they go to jail for the entire time of their probation...be it 1 yr, 2 yrs, and so on. She was ordered to take a drug awareness class which she didn't do, and she was caught driving twice on a suspended license. The good thing is when she gets out, she's still rich. Most people have to start completely over when this happens to them. She is exactly where she belongs. She should count her blessings. If she had accepted her fate, she would be out in 3 wks...she used her power and now it will be 1-1/2 months. My respect goes to the judge for truly being impartial.

Once again, to everyone here that think that PH is been abused and made an example, tell me it is ok to let somone go who is an HABITUAL offender of the law, not once but other times. She was dinking and driving (she was very drunk). she got a DUI, that is a serious crime (it kills tens of thousands of people a year). She then had her license taken away. She then drove again without a license and was caught. She then singed papers that she knew she was not supposed to drive. SHE THEN DID IT AGAIN! She was then caught driving again without a license. She was supposed to go to classes on AA but did not and went partying instead. She was supposed to be on parole but did not obay it. She then tried to not go to court but was made to go. She was then disrespectful to the judge and lied to him on numerous occasions in the courtroom. There are many laws she broke here, not just one. And many of them are serious. DUI, driving under the influence, is a crime, many people die each year for it. If one of your family was killed by a drunk driver as have many other people, you would not be protecting this person. Paris is arrogant and cares only about herself. All she does in society is party, flash her crotch all the time (probably why you like her), she does drugs, drinks, screws everyone, is a pure skank. She produces nothing for society that is positive and it is Paris that is hateful to society. She is now getting what she deserves.

I agree that there should be some form of punishment, but the punishment should fit the crime. The average punishment for this crime is 2-3 days in jail. I personally do not care for Ms. Hilton, but I do think the legal system should be equal to all. Though many do not like this girl, those opinions are to be left outside of the court room. She is being punished for who she is and not what she did. It's clear this judge wants to make a name for himself.

Funny. Minutes after my previous post, I just received a - how shall I say? - not so cordial text from someone who is friends with both Paris and myself aghast that I would say Paris is mentally unfit. I leave the profanities and threats to your imagination, but it disturbed me to say the least. And no, I am not simply jealous that my partying (some would say I am legedary in that regard) does not get the sort of attention that Paris's does. But my friend (perhaps former now?) thinks otherwise and let me know that. I am amazed that people read this blog for one thing. But back to the point. It's incredible the amount of uncritical support out there for this 'heiress' who most certainly disregarded the law. As I've said, Paris is, from what I have seen, a very strange person who does very bizarre things that normal people simply do not - I don't care if they are coked out or high or what. Now, because my texting friend has rankled my feathers a bit and threatened to 'put the f'in wood to [my] skull' when he sees me, I'll detail this bit for him and for her. So I am sitting at a nameless O.C. stars's backyard and in walks Ms. Hilton and her Blackberry, not even blinking to look up at anyone or acknowledging us, but walking right over to the said star, kiss on the cheek, and a beeline to the booze. fine, no big deal so far. Well, Paris gets her drink, sits, and begins ranting about the typical: Li-lo's whorish behavior, Travis, and how 'fat' Scarlett Johannson looked when she saw her last. fine again. this is de rigeur for her. However, when someone else semi-famous tells her to 'f-off' that 'Scarlet's a friend and is a thousand times more attractive then you' etc. etc., Paris goes bezerk (sp?) and begins doing this weird bird sqwak and flailing about yelling that S.J. 'f*cked Stavros' (which I don't think happened, but who knows?) and regularly sleeps with producers, blah, blah, blah, (again I think she made this up), all the while she is flailing and spinning and sqwaking and then she - I am not kidding you - gets into the fetal position, starks sucking on her own finger like a baby, and completely quiets down, demanding that everyone leave her and go inside. Well, we were all so weirded out by the behavior we did just that. Except for our host, who tried to help Paris, which was rebuffed. So what were we to do? We all went in and continued chatting and remarking on how strange it was what we just witnessed (of course speculating about what she was on, but I am telling you, I don't think she was on anything). Paris stays out there in that position for at least 30 minutes. Then, her sister shows up with some huge guy (bodyguard???). He goes out there. Picks her up. Slings her over his massive shoulder. Under the terms of her probation, she was supposed to perform a certain number of hours of community service by a set date. She didn't do any. To suggest that she'd be better off volunteering for the city or society is hilarious - she didn't perform ANY community service as required, even when threatened with going to jail.

i completely agree. yes, shes annoying. yes, she has more money then she deserves. yes, she made some very bad choices. but i have, unfortunatly, a couple family members that have done the same thing she has done, drove drunk, and then drove on a suspended license and the worst thing that happened was one of my cousins needed to spend 2 months worth of weekends in jail, and community service. and yes paris being in jail is a waist of prison resources. it sucks shes annoying, rich, and looks like shes above the law, but honestly shes getting worse then most people would in her situation. no one, no matter how annoying, deserves to be taken out of jail, put on house arrest, and have everyone throw a fit because of who she is, and being dragged back to jail.

What a bunch of Hollywood arse lickers. Of course this is justice. She needs to serve at least half her sentence. People all around the country have been in jail for weeks for crimes similar to Paris Hilton.
No one is going to feel sorry for her so don't think anyone will care if she whinges.

If I got a DUI and was then caught TWICE driving when my licence was revoked, my Mother would KICK MY ASS...she wouldn't be yelling in open court how unfair it is. Nonetheless, From the reports today, it is obvious that Paris Hilton is devastated. She is now being forced to come full-face to the reality of her situation AND in her World she has been completely sequestered from what REALITY really feels like. She is not emotionally equipped to deal with this and will likely have a complete psychotic break.
As for the suggestions that she is detoxing from cocaine or marijuana-there is no physical withdrawal associated with those drugs -if it were opiates YES, she would be in agoney if she is addicted to opiates. Alcohol withdrawal can be brutal as well, and even fatal, but I doubt she is addicted to alcohol to the degree that she is suffering withdrawal, so that's not it either. She is just scared Shit-less and too emotionally shunted to deal with her situation. I would bet that she is now heavily sedated with Haldol or Thorazine and will remain that way for the duration of her sentence and probably for sometime afterward. In any case, she has now become a somewhat tragic figure.

Every day in every jail and prison in every city and town, someone loses it because incarceration is too much for them and they cant take it emotionally. I am a Paris fan but I think she got what she deserved!!! About 8 years ago my cousin lost his 1 year old daughter to a drunk driver. She should not be driving that way. She has all the fuckin money to hire a driver when she goes out but they decide to get behind the wheel & drive drunk. I have a family memeber who did the same & had to pay the price for his actions! I think that the punishment exceeds the crime. Plain and simple.

If the judge had said that she was going to go back to jail to serve out the rest of her shorter 23 day sentence, then I'd say fine. Because she DOES need to face the same punishment anyone else would. But to up it back to the 45 day sentence - essentially punishing HER for the decision of the sheriff, is wrong.

Either way, her reaction just breaks my heart. I wish she was a sister or a friend of mine so I could sit with her and just let her know that everything is going to be okay.

It does make me realize that there are so many people in this country whose punishment doesn't really fit. Hopefully this case will bring light to other people's cases with similar situations. Paris' heartbreaking reaction must be echoed in dozens of cases all over the country every single day.
I think the best case scenario of this would be for Paris to become an activist for other people in similar circumstances. She would be a wonderful spokesperson for an under-represented cause.

She's getting a jail sentence from drinking and driving, driving under a suspended license, and then, not learning from the first time, driving with a suspended license again. If you get pulled over for driving with a suspended license while you're already on probation for DUI, you may want to skip driving and get someone to drive you around. But Paris, being the dumbass she is, chose several times to ignore the rules of her probation. Anyone, rich or poor, should suffer the same consequences for being such a dumbass. All she had to do was hire a driver or walk. How difficult is that? She's in jail for being a dumbass. Serves her right. I hope she rots.

THIS is an injustice?? Really? Over 3,500 young American men and women have now lost their lives in Iraq for no damn good reason. THAT is an injustice. We don't even know how many innocent Iraqi women and children have died - we can't get a straight answer (our own president uses "ish" at the end of the number when asked that question)and worse we have stopped asking. THAT is an injustice. Children who are abused, or who go to bed hungry because there is not enough food for the entire family to eat, or do not have clean safe housing...THOSE are injustices. The only injustice here was done to us by the media. All the time spent covering this story took away time from real stories.
I am sorry, but I am having a hard time feeling bad for someone who got caught driving under the influence more than once- I have to believe that is a regular occurence and that IS a threat to society. Paris has been given a false sense of entitlement and her every whim catered to probably her entire life. She is almost 30, it is time she learns that there are consequences to your actions. Most people learn that by the time they are 3.

Other than that, all I can say is that prison must really really suck if she carried on like that infront of cameras!

The message is clear: Paris is where her peers think she oughtta be. The society makes the rules and sets the punishments and the majority think she has gotten what she deserves. I just noticed how calm she looks in the original booking picture after the MTV awards. Jason Waller from that MTV realty show has many DUIs and act out with violant behavior to many people including cops. He is NOT doing one day in jail. He has to go to anger mangement and not drink any more. HOW FAIR IS THAT. He was tried in LA County court too. I am not a Paris fan by any means but the court is trying to make an example of her. I don't know about other people or celebrities who may have had less severe sentences but I am an attractive 26 year old woman and I live very comfortably. I was recently pulled over by policeman and later charged with a misdemeanor OWI. I have never been in trouble before or even received a speeding ticket. I was so scared and upset so I know how she feels but I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW SHE CAN SNUB THE LAW SO BLATANTLY. WHEN A COP OR JUDGE TELLS ME TO DO SOMETHING, I WILL DEFINITELY DO IT SO I DON'T PISS THEM OFF because they give you a task list of things to complete and if you don't do it, they have the power to make your future very difficult. I never violated my probation so the judge never had to see me to send me to jail for a minor probation violation. It's kinda like the principal's office, you keep screwing up and seeing the principal, you'll eventually get expelled.

Sheriff Lee Baca, the Los Angeles law-enforcement official who ordered Hilton released from jail after serving only three days in her 45-day sentence, accepted a $1,000 campaign donation last year from William Barron Hilton—Paris's grandfather. That contribution constituted the maximum amount allowable under California campaign rules.

Baca has come under heavy fire for deciding to let Hilton serve out the remainder of her sentence at home, in apparent defiance of the orders given by the judge who sentenced her last month. Baca has said that Hilton was suffering from a "medical condition," an explanation that has not fared well under scrutiny. This afternoon, Judge Michael T. Sauer ordered Hilton back to jail. WOW, there are some serious HATERS in this world...I am ALL for her being brought down a notch...But the judgge going for the whole 40 days is just him trying to show he has balls. I think you're forgetting the fact that Paris violated her probation more than once. And I don't buy that crap she said to the judge about not knowing she couldn't drive since she has other people handling things for her. This isn't a question of being a HATER (who uses this word? -- 12 year olds). First, Paris original violation was DUI, that got pleaded down to reckless driving. Second, not only once but twice she got caught violating the conditions of her probation. How many violations is that?..Then the not so bright princess shows up late to her hearing for her probation violation. Who does she think she is? Finally, when order to back to see the Judge after her early release, either guided by her stupidity and/or her pompus lawyers, decides to plea her case via telephone..WTF..Every single action she has taken has shown complete disrespect of the law and its officials.

She deserves exactly what she got. DUI is against the law. She got a slap on the wrist, and then what does she do, she drived on a suspended license, and gets caught twice. She just got caught twice, but from your pics, she was driving just about everywhere she went. She thought she was above the law.

Who of you has NEVER broken any law?? Honestly!! She got caught is really it; I know of many people who've driven without licenses or under the influence but are not in the public eye and didn't get caught. And it's SOOOO easy to violate probation, they set it up so you almost definitely will.
She's a target in jail b/c she's famous and in an overcrowded prison system do you really think they'd be able to protect her...they can't protect anyone else!! CA taxes are too high already, why spend an unbelievable amount of energy/time/money to watch over her and ignore all the other messed up things going on??? Would it be that bad to have her on house arrest for 45 days? She hates it in jail so you'd think that the fear of returning at this point would get her to stop getting in trouble for a while.
I think you guys just hate her or whatever cuz if it were a friend or someone you liked you all would be agreeing with X17...I don't even like her but I don't think jail is appropriate for anyone in this case as she didn't actually hurt anyone. There are other actions that can be used to punish her.
