Golden Globes To Shine Less Brightly This Year

It's official - the actors won't be attending the Golden Globes!
Page Six quotes a statement issued by Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg yesterday which avows:
"There appears to be unanimous agreement that these actors will not cross WGA picket lines to appear on the Golden Globe Awards as acceptors or presenters. We applaud our members for this remarkable show of solidarity for striking Writers Guild of America writers."
Some of the stars nominated for Globes this year include Angelina Jolie, Denzel Washington, George Clooney, and Keira Knightley.
Sad news indeed - although it certainly doesn't come as a surprise to loyal X17 readers!
Of course, the Globes' loss is the SAG Awards' gain!

Who cares? Only the "stars" care about this crap. I haven't been to a movie in ages because nothing good is being shown. Make a good movie and I'll be first in line.
Why are there so many awards shows? Making millions of dollars for play acting isn't enough reward in itself? You need a statue or a pat on the back in addition to that?
Do we have nationwide award shows for doctors, teachers, postal workers? No? Why not? They certainly contribute more to your life and our society than actors.
Stop being driven by pop culture and get serious about life.
The last time I went to a movie I sat next to someone who took their shoes off and he had the stinkiest feet. I left and have never returned. I am putting together a home theater with the money I save on tickets and over-priced refreshments. No more people talking on their cell phones in a loud whisper and no more crying babies.

This is messed up. Why have a show when the celebs won't be there. I can't wait till this strike is over with. I feel sorry for the other people besides the writers who are suffering and out of work like the set dressers, makeup artists and all those people who get paid less than the writers they are the ones who are really suffering behind this. I hope someone comes up with some good agreement that everyone can be happy with. This is going on too long.

It is a sad world we live in where the entertainers are by and large uneducated pretty faces who dabble in politics, pretend to be humanitraians and are inappropriately viewed as role models for our nations youth. These writers are the "brains" behind these pretty faces who seek to corrupt our nation while the true hard workers whose backs this nation runs on, the teachers, the police, the fireman and all the other everyday heros are under paid and under appreciated. Yet the multimillion dollar salaries earned by these so called role models and entertainers is not a enough for them.... They have the audacity to want more???? And we as a population are supposed to take our focus off of the truly news worthy and feel sorry for these people whose most notable contribution to society is the corruption of our nations youth through a morally repugnent value system they boardcast nightly on TV. Revolt against this sad populice. Take the nights of dead wirwaives and rejoice by reading your child a book, going for a family outing or playing a board game. help a child with their home work, thank a teacher or join a neighborhood watch group. Thank the writers for being greedy and get back to matters in yoru families. Who cares if these actors support the writers...Support your true heros in everyday America. Pay then a living wage before you pay a writer or an actor more.
