Oscar Noms Released

At long last - the list of Oscar nominees has been unleashed!
There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men led the pack with 8 nominations each, followed by Atonement and Michael Clayton with seven.
Juno also picked up several key nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Ellen Page, and Best Original Screenplay.
Best Actress proved to be perhaps the most interesting category - not only did Angelina Jolie not get a nomination for A Mighty Heart (remember, she's been racking up nominations for her performance), but Cate Blanchett's the only non-first-time nominee!
Of course, there's still a shadow of uncertainty hanging over the awards show courtesy of the striking writers. While the Academy confirmed that there will be a ceremony on February 24th, there's still no word on how everything's going to go down.

Not true about the best actress category. Laura Linney is a 2nd time nominee. She received a prior nod for Best Actress for "You Can Count on Me." And good question. What the HELL is Jennifer Garner's picture posted for? What, couldn't find a picture of Ellen Page for "Juno" so you had to settle for her costar?

I was looking for info on oscar nods and came across this site. I never blog, but when I read "screw Christmas, oscar season is the most wonderful time of the year", I had to take a moment to comment on that. How dare you make not only a comparison between an awards ceremony and Christmas, but hold the awards in higher regard than Christmas?! No wonder this world is so screwed up! I'm stunned that anyone would make such a ludicrous remark! What a bunch of shallow, ignorant, uneducated people you are! I will make sure that everyone I know is aware of this! Some "celebrity" site when you report that Cate Blanchett is the only non-first time nominee and ignor the fact that Julie Christie WON and laura Linney had 2 prior nominations. Just ONCE in a while, why don't you check your facts!!! Just like the Tony Parker thing and the restraining order thing with Adnan, other sites check things out quite easily and find out they aren't true. Guess your 12 year old "writers" never heard of Christie and Linney so they assumed they'd never been nominated before!!!

I am glad the Academy has some common sense and they didn't give Jolie a nomination. That would have been a split in the face to such fine actresses as Kate Blanchett and Julie Christie who really are the biggest talents in the modern movie industry. Guess adopting kids and whoring them around doesn't make you a good actress.
