Richard Gere, wife Carey Lowell and son Homer attended the launch of the La Huella restaurant at the Punta del Este resort in Uruguay over the weekend, and after that the family rode horses on the beach near the luxurious hotel.

After a visit to historic Inca citadel of Machu Pichu, the Gere family was spotted with Argentinian real estate developers Camilo and Daniel Sieleki, and it's being reported that the actor is looking to invest in a property to run as a hotel. Gere was appointed the 2011 ambassador of the French hotel group Relais & Chateaux, and he's expected to expand the chain in the years to come.

Richard Gere was spotted on the beach in St. Barth, and it looks like the actor has gone from hunky to chunky! After seeing these pics, I think he's ready to join the Bob Saget club for men with breasts, but hey, I should cut him some slack - he IS pushing 60!

...vacation in St. Barts next Christmas. That way, you can hang out with everyone from Stephen Dorff to Daniel Craig!

Oh, and Pretty Woman star Richard Gere is also there. He's still got that killer smile, but I dunno about a killer bod. Sorry, Rich!

Richard Gere and Diane Lane attended the premiere of "Nights In Rodanthe" last night in New York City. Sure, they're the stars of the film, but we really wanted to see James Franco! There's plenty of him in the trailer, but he was noticeably absent from the premiere last night. Hmmm!

Richard Gere's kissed plenty of lovely leading ladies in his day - but until yesterday, the smooch he planted on Indian actress Shilpa Shetty's been the one moment of PDA he wishes he'd kept private!

Last April, as you may remember, Gere set off a firestorm among the Hindi faithful when he planted one on Shetty at an AIDS benefit. The outrage grew to such epic proportions that a warrant was issued for Gere's arrest on charges of obscenity - keeping Gere out of India for the last year under threat of arrest!

Luckily for Gere, according to Page Six, the Indian high court seems willing to let bygones be bygones - yesterday, they suspended the arrest warrant against Gere indefinitely!

"Gere is allowed to come and leave," said Shilpa's attorney, Anil Grover, "He can't be arrested."

That's certainly good news for Gere - as long as he can keep his lips off Shilpa, that is!

Brad and Angie might have taken off for new settings, but the party's rolling right along at the Venice Film Festival - the Hunting Party, that is! Richard Gere's newest film was the hot ticket at the Festival yesterday afternoon, as he (along with co-stars Diane Kruger and Terrence Howard) got together to raise the premiere's profile. Looks like they've got a winner on their hands - although we have to admit to preferring the original title, Spring Break In Bosnia!

Last time it was James Taylor, now it's the Tom Petty concert - at Social @ Ross in the Hamptons - that all the celebs turned out for this weekend. Reformed hottie Mischa Barton showed up to chat a bit, and Renee Zellweger, Richard Gere, Ed Burns, Christy Turlington and Christie Brinkley also made an appearance. Probably not much else to do in New York's sweltering heat than to go concert-hopping!

By now you may have heard about the Kiss That Launched a Thousand Bonfires in India, when husband, father and human-rights activist Richard Gere put on a creepy public display of affection with Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty! PDA is largely taboo in India (in fact you'll almost never see an on-screen kiss in any of the Bollywood films), and the Hindus are protesting by burning effigies of Gere.

Shetty, herself, has defended Gere's odd behavior, saying it was only meant to entertain the crowd. This isn't the first time Shetty's been in the midst of culture-clash - back in January, Shetty made headlines after being subjected to Big Brother housemate Jade Goody's racist rant!
