Why Hasn't Rihanna Released A Statement?

Domestic violence is a very serious matter, and while we wish Rihanna the best in her recovery, a lot of people are wondering why neither the singer nor her publicist have released a statement about Sunday morning's incident. Various media outlets have reported that Rihanna was in fact the victim, and that her injuries were "severe" and "horrific," so it's not like we really need a confirmation - we'd just like to know what's going on, and more importantly, if the reports are true that Rihanna will not press charges against her boyfriend, Chris Brown.
We understand that this is a very difficult and personal matter, but are we wrong in wanting to get some info straight from the 20-year-old R&B star herself? Or is it none of our business?
Then again, if she spoke out about the incident, she would be helping the millions of women who have been victims of domestic abuse over the years...
