BREAKING NEWS - Donna Summer Loses Battle With Cancer, Dead At 63

Donna Summer has passed away after a long battle with cancer. She was 63 years old.

Summer, who earned the nickname "Queen of Disco," died at her home in Florida.

The 70's icon earned 5 Grammy awards and was known for such hits as "On The Radio," "Last Dance," "Bad Girls" and "Hot Stuff."

Beastie Boys Rapper Adam "MCA" Yauch Dies At 47

Beastie Boys Rapper MCA, who's real name was Adam Yauch has died from cancer at age 47, after he announced in 2009 that he was receiving treatment for a cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node.

The Brooklyn-born rapper, who co-founded Beastie Boys in 1979 with Mike D, and Ad Rock, had undergone surgery and radiation therapy for his cancer, but as of now it is unclear if his death was related to his battle with cancer.

Yauch was a pioneer in the rap and music industry, and was the mastermind behind some of the most iconic albums in hip-hop history, which won the group multiple Grammys.

They Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.

Yauch is survived by his wife and daughter.

Leslie Carter Died Of A Drug Overdose, Police Report Says

300.Lesie.tg.020112pic230.jpgNick and Aaron Carter's sister Leslie died Tuesday night in New York as the result of a drug overdose, according to a police report.

The 25-year-old singer's stepmom, Ginger Carter, called 911 telling paramedics Leslie was "asleep on her bed and not breathing."

The police report said that Leslie, who was taking medication for depression, had been suffering from mental illness for a number of years.

Paramedics who responded to the 911 call say the following prescription drugs were found near Leslie's body: Olanzapine, Cyclobensaprine and Alprazolam.

Leslie is survived by her husband Mike and daughter Alyssa.

Legendary Blues Singer Etta James Dies At 73

230EttaJames%20copy.jpgBeloved soul singer Etta James, the powerful voice behind the chart-topping 1961 hit "At Last," has died at the age of 73 after losing a lengthy battle with leukemia, her Longtime friend and manager, Lupe De Leon, said on Friday.

De Leon, first confirmed the news to CNN, saying in a statement:

    "This is a tremendous loss for the family, her friends and fans around the world. She was a true original who could sing it all – her music defied category. I worked with Etta for over 30 years. She was my friend and I will miss her always."

James was first admitted to the hospital in January 2010, after suffering from a blood infection, before retuning to seek care in May 2011 for a urinary tract infection and the blood infection sepsis.

The four-time Grammy winner was inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, and was famously portrayed by Beyonce in the 2008 movie Cadillac Records.

Knowles released a statement after the singer's death, expressing: "This is a huge loss. Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time. I am so fortunate to have met such a queen. Her musical contributions will last a lifetime."

Heavy D Autopsy Confirms The Rapper Died Of Fatal Pulmonary Embolism

heavydbet122611230Rapper Heavy D, who passed away on November 8th at the age of 44, died of a fatal pulmonary embolism, according to The Los Angeles County Coronor's Office.

The preliminary results from the autopsy report say that the "Now That We Found Love" singer suffered a deep vein thrombosis ... a formation of a blood clot in a deep vein usually found in the leg.

Heavy D reportedly sought treatment from a doctor just before his death after complaining of a persistent cough. He also suffered from heart disease and the effects of high cholesterol.

His death has been ruled "natural." The final autopsy report will be available in two weeks.

Andy Rooney Passes Away

andy-rooney-dead-92.jpgCBS veteran Andy Rooney passed away yesterday in a New York City hospital at the age of 92, the network has confirmed.

The 60 Minutes newsman had been in the hospital since late October after suffering complications from surgery, and this was just a few weeks after he announced that he was retiring. Rooney is survived by his four children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Jeff Fager, the chairman of CBS News and the EP of 60 Minutes, said in a statement today, "It's a sad day at 60 Minutes and for everybody here at CBS News. It's hard to imagine not having Andy around. He loved his life and he lived it on his own terms. We will miss him very much."

Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs Dead At 56

Apple visionary Steve Jobs died Wednesday at age 56.

The co-founder transformed the way we see technology today with the introduction of the iMac, iPod and iPhone.

Jobs had been battling a rare form of pancreatic cancer. Apple's board of directors said in a statement:

    "We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today. Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts."

Jobs beat a form of pancreatic cancer in 2004 and had a liver transplant in 2009. Then on August 24, 2011, he stepped down as Apple's chief executive, stating in his resignation letter, "I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come."

Ryan Dunn's Jackass Co-stars Attend Private Memorial Service In Pennsylvania

dunn062011_02_X17230WM.jpgJackass stars Johnny Knoxville and Bam Margera paid their respects to co-star Ryan Dunn at a private memorial service in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Dunn and his passenger, Zachary Hartwell, were killed earlier this week after the 34-year-old star lost control of his Porsche while going at least 130 mph ... eventually crashing into a tree. The sports car burst into flames upon impact. Toxicology results show that Dunn was drunk at the time of the crash.

There will be a public funeral service that will take place later this week. Picketers from the Westboro Baptist Church are expected. The funeral director, Joe DellaVecchia, says police will be present to maintain control. He adds:

    "We can't stop someone from coming to a public funeral, but this is private, and the police have everything under control"
