Roman Polanski Must Return To The States For Sentencing

Posted on Sun Jan 24, 2010 10:05 AM PDT

This has been a long time coming!

A judge ruled this Friday that director Roman Polanski, accused of engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl in 1978, must return to the U.S. so as to not "manipulate the justice system" any further.

Polanski spent over 60 days in a Swiss jail before being transferred to house arrest in early December.

The director's attorneys, as well as an attorney for the victim, have argued Polanski should be sentenced absentia.

While the judge has ruled Polanski must appear in a Los Angeles courtroom, his decision will likely be appealed.

Craziness.

have fun in jail u dirty dog! now all the men can have intercourse w u! haha! dirty bastard!

Not quite.

An American judge ruled that he has to return, which ruling does not mean squat in Switzerland or France.

I would offer him the chance to return to the U.S. and be free on the same bail he posted in Switzerland pending his appeal of his original conviction. Forget about a sentencing until the appeal is decided. I would also demand that he prove he has completely settled his private agreement with the woman who was a girl when he had sex with her.

Should he win the appeal he can be tried again on all the original charges and have a fair trial for the offenses he committed. A loss of the appeal would then be time for his sentencing for the offense he was originally convicted of. He would also have the right to accept the original conviction and be sentenced for that offense alone.

Putting him in prison will only make him a martyr and at his age would be cruel. Some time on close parole and registration as a sex offender seems fair to me.

If this 30 year old case is being pushed by Los Angeles DA Delgadillo - he is a slime ball who is only trying to advance his poltiticl career through a famos case.

Posted by: Anonymous

yeppers.

Delgadillo badly needs a cause celebre to catapult him into public awareness.

Mexian politics at its best.

Posted by: Anonymous

It loks like there haven't been any famous celebrities to get into trouble lately.
So the DA's office had to dig up a decades old case.

Most likely, Switzerland will not extradite Polanski.
This judge's ruling will most likely piss off Swiss/French authorities.

I lived through the 70s and I'm a female. Of course things were different back then, much more relaxed sexually. I was there!

He made a mistake with a teenager(who was almost 14 at that time). He said he was guilty and went to jail before going to France. His"victim"doesn't want him in jail.
End of the story!

he RAN!.....that's what their pissed about..he got a sweet deal sentenced to 90 days phsyciatic evaluation he only did 42....the judge said I'm gonna send him back to do the other 48, he ran.......it's not like he was going away for years......
he got a leniant deal and ran! get it?

Criminals belong in prison.

To all Polanski's haters:

Are you jealous because-he's a great director?
-he's wealthy?
-his wife is stunning?
-he's been famous for 40years?

dilo needs to introduce ali to roman

Posted by: Anonymous

Don't you mean supermodel Ali? hehe

lol

he needs to serve out his sentence in a US prison and he needs to be tried for running. Yes, I was born in the 50's but a baby raper is a baby raper no matter when the rape took place. He committed a crime and no amount of monetary restitution to the victim can change that. Crime = time.

I agree with 3:40. Laws are created to protect every person living within a society. A sex offender and his victim don't have the right to decide prosecution. Criminals belong in prison.

Sounds like his trifecta game plan for statue of limitations to expire, People forgetting about it, and the safety of not being extradited isn't working out so slick! I say good! He committed a crime against a minor, ran, and now deserves what's coming to him, jail.

4:06 That's right.

To all you people who think Rocky Delga-dildo is the DA your wrong. He never was. He was the LA city attorney and now is part of a big law firm and not an elected official.

He is now running for Attorney General of all California.

Please vote for him: he let two celebrity duble DUI cases result in 90 minutes of jail time each, then got Paris 23 days, 18 days longer than anyone else would have served, then to finish his idiot run as city attorney engineered the trial of Britney for the huge crime of having a license tht was valid but not from California.

Please Please Plesase; Paris and Britney team up and rub this assholes face in the mud. Being the instrument of Karma is to be blessed.

He was comitted to a jail for mental evaluation before sentencing and ran after the jail report recommended probation and said he was not a pedophile or danger to the community.

HE RAN... and is still running. Out of fairness for everyone who has shown up in court, on time, and ready to be punished, after the sex part of this is settled he should do some time for the 100 meter sprint.

Posted by: Anonymous

Delgadillo's own wife had a bench warrant for her arrest and got off with just paying a $300 fine.

She was also using and damaging city property.

Delgadillo should NEVER be Attorney General of California because he is a sleeze and so is his wife.

Posted by: Anonymous

Polanski won't be extradited. Mark my words.

Posted by: Anonymous

Delgadillo and his wife should be in jail. I live in California. We hate him and his family there.

Posted by: Anonymous

Give it up Delgadillo.

Posted by: Anonymous

I hope this ends Delgadillo's career. He and his sleezy, ugly wife are hated in Los Angeles. I agree with the post above. Let's look back at their history. They've both done far worst things than Polanski. THEY SHOULD BE PROPERLY TRIED and, perhaps, put in jail!

Posted by: Anonymous

The whole country is laughing at California's justice. Delgadillo is slime.

Posted by: Anonymous

I agree. Why is Delgadillo allowed to make decisions regarding people's lives and future. He is unstable. He should be held under observation for mental problems. His wife looks, and behaves, like a pig.

Posted by: Anonymous

Is Delgadillo jealous of Polanski's talent and his beautiful wife, since he's a loser and married to a dog?

Posted by: Anonymous

Crime and the drug problems in California are terrible. Put the hundreds of thousands of dollars the state is spending on this case to help the people that really need it. Delgadillo you should be ashamed of yourself!!!!!!!

Posted by: Fred

Delgadillo, judge Sauer, and so many others in California judicary make that state and the whole country look bad.

I absolutely agree with the idea of Paris and Britney teaming up to destroy him. With their skill at managing the press and especially Britneys draw power they could bury him and both have a reason to do just that.

Posted by: Anonymous

dirty little whore! i hope he rots in jail!haha!

Posted by: lkl

I'm laughing my ass off at some of you who say it was the 70's I was there. Please I was there also, but you still couldn't anally rape a 13 year old get away with. Don't blame the mom, it Roman Polanski who force this child to have sex, that's called RAPE. Take a minute and look at your daughter and if someone got her drunk, gave her pills and anally raped her would you just say, well it the MTV generation if he got away for 30 years?

To1.26PM:I bet you lives in Texas and you go to church every sunday...

X17 Poll

What went wrong on The X Factor today with Britney Spears?

Britney definitely had another meltdown. This is proof she's not ready to step back into the spotlight!
I think Britney may have overreacted to a bad audition, but it will be entertaining to watch later!
I think Simon Cowell planned this all along. Brit probably even rehearsed it!
