Roman Polanski Rape Victim: I'm "Relieved" Switzerland Didn't Exdradite Him

Posted on Fri Oct 8, 2010 04:47 PM PDT

Samantha Geimer, the victim in the rape case against Roman Polanski, is speaking out for the first time since Polanski was captured by the Swiss authorities and almost extradited back to Los Angeles earlier this year to face the sentence he fled from thirty years ago.

Geimer said she was "relieved" Polanski was not forced to return to LA, to face charges stemming from a 1977 incident in which the director raped the then 13-year-old at the home of actor Jack Nicholson.

After having to replay the painful events of her childhood all over again, she said she felt his "coming back would be a thousand times worse" and that she's been "so much more damaged by the court system and the media" than Polanski, therefore it's easy to forgive the director.

We should all be so forgiving!

I guess she's just happy to move on!

Strange woman. If I was drugged and raped and the rapist got away with it, I would be pretty angry.

No, we SHOULDN'T all be so forgiving! A grown man DRUGGED and ANALLY RAPED an 11 year old! I'm glad she's been able to come to terms with it, but her feelings do not change the laws. Laws that are in place to protect OTHER children from predators like Polanski. Enforcement of laws aren't and shouldn't be based on the feelings of one victim.

That's because there was a settlement years ago. She never denies it.

Her attitude sure will make all the pedophiles feel ok about raping little girls. Those sickos might think "maybe the little girls won't mind." Especially the rich pedophiles, they would think they could just pay the victims to make them feel ok about it. This is so wrong. She is clearly messed up. Her upbringing is messed up too.

Her own mother pimped her out to Polanki and at any rate, she wasn't even a virgin at age 13.
What good would it do to re-open this silly old case now.

It was different times in 1977, life was much freer in California.

She wasn't 11, she was 13. Leave these people alone already. What happened is their business. Switzerland did the right thing.

Probably a very beautiful girl back then who looked older and acted older than her years.
Polanski was only human and it seemed ok with her mother.

It was consentual sex, they both said so. Y'all stop being so damn jealous.

this is a public excuse for all the killings and very bad treatment the white people gave to the blacks including martin luther king.
...........IS ROMAN POLANSKI MORE IMPORTANT?
the united states still have a BIG racial problem, folks!!

A state DA prosecutes on behalf of the state's residents not the victim of a crime.

Posted by: Anonymous

The state's residents did not need the expense esp. when both parties are in agreement.

We have enough useless cases slugging through the court system, chief among them the never ending Lindsay Lohan problems.

A wealthy pedophile rapes a child. He and his former child/now adult victim don't care about prosecution. So you think every state resident should be relieved a pedophile was prosecuted and sentenced for his crime. The pedophiliac rape should just be forgotten as if the crime never occurred. Of course! The California judicial system should let every wealthy criminal and their malleable victim decide whether the penal code applies to them. Residents can call a special 800 number to vote on who to prosecute. 1 800 Unequal Justice - it's like American Idol for absolute morons.

She made her choice years ago.If she wants to forgive him and is relieved that he wasn't extradicted, good for her. Each case is a case, and if they reached a settlement, good for them too.
California is broke and the jails are already full. They wouldn't have space there to keep him locked up anyway. And this crime is too old now,Polansky is old and the "victim" is already an adult. Those prosecutors should forget this old case and only worry about other cases.

Polanki is a peadophile and is going to continue absuing children. he is is an arrogant man and a vile man, i hope something really nasty happends to him,
and all other peados.

Personally I think she should keep quiet on this matter. She made her choice to accept the settlement and to forgive him for drugging and raping her. To now say she's relieved sends a message to child rapists that their victims will get over it provided they don't get caught. Victims don't need to hear stories like this, I'm sure it's depressing and doesn't help anyone. I blame the idiots for letting him go in the first place.

What went wrong on The X Factor today with Britney Spears?

Britney definitely had another meltdown. This is proof she's not ready to step back into the spotlight!
I think Britney may have overreacted to a bad audition, but it will be entertaining to watch later!
I think Simon Cowell planned this all along. Brit probably even rehearsed it!
