Swiss Police Deny Polanski's Request For Release

The Swiss Justice Ministry, who are currently holding the director under arrest in Zurich, have denied his appeal to be released.
Ministry spokesman Folco Galli told The AP on Tuesday that he believes there is a "high risk" that Polanski will try to flee the country before extradition to the US for the 1977 rape of then 13-year-old Samantha Geimer.
Polanski was apprehended on September 26th at the Zurich airport, as he arrived to receive an award from a film festival.
Will justice finally be served in this case? And does that include letting this man go?

He pled guilty to having sex with a 13 year old girl. The investigation led to a lot of charges such as sodomy but those charges were dropped as part of a deal for his guilty plea. He was put in a maximum security prison for mental evaluation not as punishment for what he did but rather to give the judge a better understanding. He was released from the prison after the evaluation and scheduled for sentencing and then he ran.
Most Americans want him to face sentencing for what he did. The rape of a child is not something most of us are willing to overlook and our law does not give a child the right to consent to sex let alone be drugged and drunk and then violated. Most Americans also think that someone who runs to avoid sentencing also should be tried and punished for that act as well.
I want him to get the same sentence as any other offender who pled guilty to the charge of having sex with a 13 year old girl and then running from justice. No more and no less, a punishment given by a judge, in our court system which is very open to view. He should also be given the same appeal rights as any other convicted criminal by based on his past actions he should not be allowed bail during the appeal.
It matters not if he gets 1 day or 10 years, what matters is that he face a judge for the crime he has already admitted to.

A 13 year old is a minor.
