It's more involved than just eyeliner, and a lot of people can't do their own makeup - it's nerve wracking to have a pointy thing going at your eye, and some people prefer to have a professional who knows how to do it without pulling the skin. In his case I would imagine there's also a lot of mascara, eyebrow shaping, hair conditioning and dye too.
