Report: Ryan and Scarlett Move Forward With Adoption Plans

Posted on Fri Jun 11, 2010 03:38 PM PDT

ryanscarlettpicWM.jpgRyan Reynolds and wife Scarlett Johansson are getting ready to adopt a baby from Africa, according to Star.

The two smoking hot actors have been married since 2008 and sources tells the mag, "Scarlett has always wanted to adopt from outside the U.S. She feels now is finally the right time."

Sources add that Reynolds and Scarlett have been working on the adoption process for quite a while with a U-S based agency, and they've narrowed their search to Ethiopia or Ghana.

Ironically, Scarlett's mom recently adopted a baby girl from Ghana, says Star.

Plus, Reynold's friend and Proposal co-star Sandra Bullock recently adopted her little boy, Louis, from New Orleans. Perhaps Sandy could give her buddy Ryan a few pointers!

Reps for Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johannson did not return our calls.

Do you think Scarlett and Ryan should adopt now ... or wait a while until their careers slow down?

I think that that is great. But, aren't there kids in the USA that need a good home and would love to be adopted.

Posted by: Anonymous

I thought they were having marital problems? If this is true, they are dumb to think a baby can save the relationship. Children put more stress on a relationship than anything, but then coming from Star magazine ya never know.

these two are idiotic '

Posted by: Anonymous

Oh, my eyes tear up for these two, Hope they know what a good thing they're doing.

Posted by: Anonymous

Does Ryan wear a hairpiece? The hairline looks very strange....

Posted by: Anonymous

I agree w/ 3:49. It's a wonderful thing they are doing, but why can't these actors adopt kids in the US? I hear it costs a lot more money to adopt children here in the states versus other countries. But they have more money than God so we know that's not an issue.

if they like to save $$$$ on this adoption so Be it they like cheap things 'so what !!!

2 idiots hoping that adopting a Black African baby will make them relevant.

Pro Tip: It will not.

Posted by: Anonymous

Come on of course its more interesting for the media if they adopt from an exotic country, they surely learned that lesson from Angelina and Brad - how to buy and use exotic kids to get attention and stay in the spotlight

Posted by: Anonymous

I think they should adopt a poor, starving, needy child from the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!! JACKASSES!!!

Posted by: Whoops

@ " but then coming from Star magazine ya never know." Star magazine is just a compilation of lies. Their relationship is not on the rocks.

Adopting in the US is a long process (about 4 years for Sandy). Whereas adopting from a different country can take less than a year. If you're want a baby now and don't want to wait, that's the way to go

Pathetic. What better way to show the world how inclusive, sophisticated and stylish you are than to be white and adopt a black baby. If the kid is handicapped, gay and black they will hit the liberal trifecta. They are two self absorbed idiots who think a black baby is a prop to make them look cool. Lets see now, white people using blacks for their own selfish needs, isn't that racist. White liberals are the most racist people in america; they think blacks are their hand puppets.

another black kid been adopted! if i would have a black kid suddenly at my home i wouldn't ever turn the lights of i would be scared at night that i wont notice it! whats wrong with white kids these days aren't they in fashion?

Posted by: Anonymous

Well, you women went all gaga over Angelina so now they all have to do it! Never mind that Angelina is mentally ill and should not have gotten all those children in the first place. I love Scarlett but her liberal political crap is starting to wear on me. This is a kid's life that they are playing with.

Posted by: Anonymous

Well that sure breaks my heart, there so many children and babies here in America that need us!!

Posted by: Anonymous

why not make the baby themselves ?

Posted by: Anonymous

She's going the ana-skinny route and wants the kids then divorce and onto her career with no bother. dumb female in charge and wanting to direct and produce..

Posted by: Anonymous

Remember when she went after Obama? Guess she does like blacks.

Ryan had stated in a magazine article, they wanted to adopt 1st and settle that child in their home before they produce biological kids. To the folks who are concerned about the race and country of the child and political orientation of the parents, consider this... that child will be accepted and loved because he or she will be chosen by 2 people who want to give a child a loving home. If you understood the dynamics of black adoptions from anywhere in the World you would not critize this process. They are least chosen of any race, here and abroad. You do not know the motive and the heart of these people only God knows. We only know Scarlett and Ryan from what we read and I refuse to believe that they are that shallow!! If you are that concerned about babies in America Don't chastise them… you adopt one. Could you bring a black child into your home and not have at least one family member or friend upset. It is not always about the money!!

White kids are adopted and so are Asian kids. They just don't adopt PuertoRican kids scared they will stab them in their sleep I suppose.

8:22am. ur a retard. These freakin actors do this crap so they can keep up with the Joneses. I'm am really sick and tired of Hollywood preaching to me about how to live and vote and how to do pretty much anything else in this country then when they want a kid they find the most far out country around to get a kid from. if they really want to talk about charity it starts at home. don't u dare try telling me they do this because they really really want to make the world a better place and save a child. if that crazy ho-bag Jolie hadn't started this crap they wouldn't be doing it. they use these kids like the latest fashion accessory

All those who say look to the US first, how many of you have actually tried to adopt from the US? Because the wait list for babies (under 2 years) is 5+ years- that’s right, to get a baby/toddler from the US takes at LEAST FIVE YEARS, and often times much, much longer. Sheryl Crow, who has adopted two babies from the US, described the waiting period and the disappointment when the birth mother changed her mind- and it took Sandra B. four years to get Louis.

Know how long international adoptions take? From 8 to 18 months, generally. And once they are put in place, nobody can change their mind, unlike in many US adoptions when the birth mother can change her mind up to several weeks/months after the birth.

Add to that the the US system has so much more than other countries- children in orphanages in Africa, especially, are still in danger of malnutrition, disease, violence, and death. Children in foster care in the US are generally protected from these things.

It burns me up when people do the whole “Why not adopt from the US/Aren’t US kids good enough/Oh, US kids aren’t trendy enough/etc.

LOOK INTO IT BEFORE YOU SPEAK!!!

sorry ''
too expensive 'going to adopt in africa,,,

When you decide to adopt you choose a program based on lifestyle, needs, and what you the adoptive parent want. you do not adopt here because people say we have children here. Some people like Angelina Jolie seem to like international adoption because she is always in a third world country. Black children have just am much right to be adopted to in fact it is easier to adopt a black child. Every child deserves a loving home
None of my children come from the states.

Jeevan (India)
Thien (Vietnam)
Amina (Liberia)
Selena (Mexico

One more thing.
Many children here are older 5 and up. They sometime have alot of problems. Not everybody wants to take on a child who has possibly been abused or shipped from home to home.
They are not idiots Scarlett even mentioned a year before that she wanted to adopt outside of the U.S.

People there are many places to adopt from.

Do you not see that a child will have a home. That is what matters the most. But you can't even see that. You see one tiny thing they are from another country.

You adopt from where you are comfortable with. Not what critic x and y want.

Some people do not mind taking on a child from here. Some people prefer international.

You pick an adoption program based on your needs.

My daughter whom I adopted from Africa was seriously ill. Was i suppose to let her die an adopt a child here?

Another example: I really want to adopt a Hispanic child. However I know that would really rather adopt from south America. Guess what I would adopt from south America because that is where my heart is.

So what if it takes a few years to adopt in the US and there are some rules and laws to obey that unfortunately don't exist in those countries, adopting a child is a very serious decision and this is how it should be, it shouldn't be like buying a doll for your collection

Posted by: Marcus

To the last comment. Some people don't want to wait a few years for a child. Sometime they may be up in age. Adoption is a serious decision. People choose different programs for a number of resons.

When I decided to adopt the 4 kids I have I chose international.
I chose it because
1) More predictable time frame
2) Don't have to worry about a birth-parent wanting their child back
3) I FELT THAT MY CHILDREN WERE IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES

I also agree that you should not treat adoption as if you are shopping for a new bag.

What went wrong on The X Factor today with Britney Spears?

Britney definitely had another meltdown. This is proof she's not ready to step back into the spotlight!
I think Britney may have overreacted to a bad audition, but it will be entertaining to watch later!
I think Simon Cowell planned this all along. Brit probably even rehearsed it!
