Samantha Ronson is Lindsay Lohan's on-again/off-again ex-girlfriend. She claims to be bisexual, but she's only ever been sighted with other girls. She's a trust fund baby, and comes from a family of some minor importance in the UK. She 'works' as a DJ; though it's more of a hobby than an actual job that she has in order to earn a living, and she is in no way near as accomplished as professional DJ's like Judge Jules or ATB She has been nicknamed 'i-pod DJ' by some for her habit of showing up and only playing songs she loaded into her i-pod. Her brother works as a record producer, and her step-father is Mick Jones of Foreigner (who helped set her brother up in the business).
Because she is/was the ex of a famous/infamous 'out' celbrity (Lohan) she is revered by the lesbian and hipster community. This is especially true in the online lesbian community (ie. L-Chat). An example of this can be seen by the posts from the serial commenter on 12:14 to 1:28.
In truth most people despise her, and view her relationship with Lindsay as an attempt by her to gain fame by jumping onto someone elses coat-tails. She first began pursuing Lindsay when she was 27 and Lindsay was 16 (Ronson is currently 34). When Lindsay was released from the Betty Ford clinic earlier this year the two engineered that they move next to one another in an attempt to garner media attention. Ronson was forced to move from her former resience due to her bulldog Cadillac attacking others and filally killing another dog. It is an open secret that she has been under psychiatric care for a number of years.
