Sandra Bullock Breaks History With The Blind Side's $200 Million Haul
Posted on Tue Jan 5, 2010 09:59 AM PDT

The Blind Side has smashed the glass ceiling, becoming the first female-topped film to gross more than $200 million at the domestic box office.
Variety reports that the Sandra Bullock holiday drama about a Southern mother who takes in a football phenom is the only film that has solo billing from a top female star to break the mark, including movies headlined by stars like Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie or Reese Witherspoon.
The only other "chick flick" to break the $200 million mark (domestically) was indie film My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which earned $241.1 million domestically. Ironically, the lead in that, Nia Vardalos, was a total unknown at the time.
Congrats, Sandy!

Someone's gonna get a MIGHTY BIG paycheck for her next movie. Just sayin'.
I've always loved Sandra's movies. She always seems to get overlooked. Maybe because most of her movies are chick flicks but us chicks love em.
Good for you Sandra, From an ex actress turned Mom and proud of it... I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!! A normal lovely lady and person gets recognized for her talent not for ridiculous reasons. Yayyyyyyyy!! Way to go & you deserve it. You are a great actress!
Soooo...Titanic didn't count or what? Wasn't that considered a major chick flick and it was the largest grossing movie of all time...Just sayin'
Maybe if they made MORE "chick flicks" and didn't derogatory label them there would be more.
Only the most secure dudes will see a "chick flick" when it is labeled that way.
Funny how they act like female lead films are niche films when females own the majority of the population.
Females are expected to go along and see stupid "d-ck flicks"
I don't know if I would consider "The Blind Side" a chick flick. Ihaven't seen it yet but there's a strong football story that's getting men into theatres.
