Seal isn't shy about speaking out about his split with wife Heidi Klum ... or discussing the possibility of a reconciliation.
The 48-year-old "Kiss From A Rose" singer appeared on CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight and said the following:
"It may happen, I can't speak for her. Is it irreparable? You can never say never. The thing I love most about us is that we are a team … that won't change, whether we get back together or not."
Seal and Klum were married for almost seven years. He adds:
"I don't know at this point, to be honest [if I want to reconcile]. If it were that easy – if there weren't problems, we'd still be together. That is the reality ... I'm still wearing my wedding ring because I'm still married to this incredible woman."
The singer is currently promoting his latest album Soul 2.
Stepping out publicly for the first time since confirming his split with wife of seven years, Heidi Klum, Seal stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote the release of his new album, and open up on his recent split.
The "Kiss from a Rose" singer, who was still wearing his wedding ring, tells Ellen of the recent breakup:
"I think we were shocked. You go into these things with the greatest intentions when you say 'I do' and you say '’til death do us part.' Those vows hold value. They are not just words.
These things happen. We pretty much said how we feel and made it clear in the release statement. But, for intensive purposes of this show, you just grow apart after awhile.
You try and you work through it and the thing that you quickly realize when you are married and you become a parent you do the best that you can. It makes you actually appreciate your parents a lot more."
Seal went on to praise the Victoria's Secret Angel, confessing:
"The thing that I’m most proud about this great woman who married (and I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart), is that together she has given me four incredible gifts…four beautiful children.
She still, in my opinion, the most wonderful woman in the world. I think our priority was to remain civil and do this thing with dignity. We still very much love each other.
It’s not a question of we were never to follow suit of some break-up or separations that you hear about, especially in our industry. It’s a shame. To say that neither of us were grieving would be an out and out lie (and I don’t mind telling you that).
I think the operative here is that we are civil to each other and we both have a tremendous amount of respect and love and we try and do this with as much dignity as we possibly can. And of course, when you have four children, you hope and pray that the rest of the world will respect that we have four children and that their little hearts are at stake too."
The Grammy winner later discussed the reason why he decided to keep his wedding ring on, revealing:
"I think it’s just pretty much a token of how I feel about this woman. We have eight years. Eight wonderful years together.
Just because we have decided to separate doesn’t necessarily mean you take off your ring and you’re no longer connected to that person. We will be connected in many ways ‘til the rest of our lives…. though our children and also through this tremendous admiration, respect and love that we have for each other.
Will we wear the ring for the rest of our lives? Who knows? But right now it feels really comfortable on my hand so I have intentions of taking it off anytime soon."
The German supermodel reportedly filed for divorce from Seal due to his "hard partying ways" and "volcanic temper."
Seal is about to embark on a big publicity push for his upcoming album Soul 2, and X17online has learned that his label, Warner Bros. Records, is not preventing media outlets from asking questions about his recent split from Heidi Klum.
The "Kiss From A Rose" singer is taping The Ellen DeGeneres Show Monday afternoon. As for whether Ellen will ask questions about his separation from Heidi, a publicist at Warner Bros. Records tells X17online exclusively:
"Out of respect to Seal, we don't think Ellen will go there with the questioning. She's not tabloidy. If this were Wendy Williams, that would be different."
The couple's split being announced the day before Seal's big record release is "purely coincidental," the rep at the label tells us. She adds:
"Seal and Heidi's split has nothing to do with his new album coming out tomorrow. He's had these promotional dates scheduled for months. This is horrible timing."
But as we know, even bad publicity can work in someone's favor. The publicist admits:
"As sad as it is, their split has definitely generated awareness to the new album. We'll support him as best we can."
The first single “Let’s Stay Together" from the new album was released on November 1. Pretty ironic title, don't you think?
Do you think Heidi and Seal's divorce was timed to coincide with the release of his album?
Just hours after confirming the news that he is splitting from wife Heidi Klum, Seal was snapped arriving at a Los Angeles studio today wearing his gold wedding ring.
The singer is set to release his 8th studio album tomorrow, Seal Soul 2, so it doesn't appear as though the crumble of his marriage is affecting his professional life. While this seems to be business as usual for the Grammy winner, we do find it interesting that he's still wearing his wedding band ... and not making any attempt to stay out of the limelight.
And despite reports that Seal's inability to control his anger was the reason behind the split, he didn't seem to be in a bad mood when we spotted him exiting his car:
After nearly 7 years of marriage, Heidi Klum will file for divorce from Seal, according to TMZ.
A source tells the site that Heidi will reportedly file divorce papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court as soon as next week, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. No official comment from their reps, but we'll keep you posted...
Though Heidi attended last weekend's Golden Globes without Seal, the two renewed their wedding vows last May in Palm Beach, Florida, so it's pretty safe to say that none of us saw this coming.
The couple have 3 biological kids together, and in 2009 Seal officially adopted Heidi's oldest daughter Leni, whose father is Flavio Briatore.
Heidi Klum's custom Christian Siriano frock isn't that wild (in fact, we kinda love it!), but when you factor in the amount of skin her husband Seal is showing, it's definitely a whole lotta look for the lovebirds!
So what did the Project Runway host have to say about her dress? “I like to give our designers some props," she said. "I told him I would like to have this color, but then he kind of just ran with it." Christian definitely ran in the right direction, but we have to wonder what he'd say about Seal's man cleavage -- it totally takes the attention away from Heidi's beautiful couture gown, so we can't imagine he'd be too happy about that!
Heidi Klum and Seal took daughter Leni -- bedecked in her pink ballet outfit -- shopping in Brentwood Saturday. Heidi and Seal picked up Leni at her ballet studio and headed downstairs to Ron Herman to buy a treat for mom. Then the trio hit up Star Toys to buy a treat for Leni!
In more R-rated news ... Heidi recently posed nude for some upcoming ads for her fashion design reality show Project Runway. The ninth season of the show launches this summer on Lifetime and no doubt this just-turned-38-year-old will look hot in her birthday suit!
