Sean Kingston sat down with MTV for his first interview since his Memorial Day weekend jet ski crash, and revealed that his situation was much more dangerous than the public might have known.
After the crash, the media knew that Kingston was in the ICU with a broken jaw and water in his lungs. But Kingston told MTV's Sway that his condition was even more dire.
Kingston: “It was a tragic situation. I had open-heart surgery … I had two other surgeries … it was a life-or-death surgery."
Sway: "You almost died?"
Luckily, Kingston is doing well now. He's heading to LA soon to start working on a new album.
The Kingston family gave MTV some personal photos of Kingston post-crash ... including one of his open-heart surgery scar. See the pics after the jump.
Justin Bieber, 17, visited his "big brother" Sean Kingston, 21, in Miami over the weekend, where Kingston has been recovering since his Memorial Day weekend jet ski accident.
Bieber told MTV News:
"His [Sean's] spirits are a lot higher. He still has to have people around him to make sure he's doing alright, but his spirits are high, and he's doing well. ... We were just hanging out at his house, kicking it, driving around Miami and whatnot."
The "whatnot" may be referring to the prank-filled video Bieber posted over the weekend.
Kingston is feeling so good, he Tweeted about getting back in the studio: "Just got a sickk penthouse in L.A!! i cant wait to get out there in august and start working on my new album!!!"
Bieber and Kingston spent all weekend Tweeting about each other, actually -- it's quite the bromance. See what they said after the jump, plus pictures of Sean since his accident.

Pop star Sean Kingston is walking on his own about a week after a personal watercraft crash left him in intensive care.
Kingston, 21, has been upgraded to serious condition at Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital, according to his publicist. He walked around for the first time Monday morning.
The singer suffered a broken jaw, fractured wrist and water in his lungs. He is expected to take a few months to recover. His life jacket fell off during the crash -- passersby had to rescue the singer.
Kingston was driving a Sea Doo personal watercraft (similar to a Jet Ski) when he crashed into a Miami bridge on May 29. A female passenger, age 23, was also hospitalized. Kingston had bought the Sea Doo only a few days before.
