Selena Gomez To Star In Teen Suicide Film 13 Reasons Why

What an edgy choice for the usually squeaky-clean Disney star.
Selena Gomez is gearing up to take on a starring role in the upcoming film 13 Reasons Why based on Jay Asher's young adult novel which centers around a girl's reasons for committing suicide. Sounds like a far cry from Ramona and Beezus.
The novel follows a shy California high school student who comes home to find a box sitting on his doorstep. In it he discovers seven cassette tapes sent to him by his late crush, Hannah Baker (Gomez), who recently committed suicide.
The tapes explain the 13 reasons why she took her life, and Baker wants them to be sent around chain-letter style to the 12 people who played a role in her death.
While Gomez will play Hannah, the other roles have yet to be cast.
We can't wait to see Justin Bieber's ladylove taking on such a meaty role. Interesting choice Selena!
Selena can next bee seen in Monte Carlo co-starring Leighton Meester, Katie Cassidy, Glee hottie Cory Monteith, and Andie MacDowell. The film centers on three young women vacationing in Paris who find themselves whisked away to Monte Carlo after one of the girls is mistaken for a British heiress. The film is set to hit theaters July 1, 2011.

I don't know about an Oscar but, it would be time to move on from Disney things and try something more her age. I don't hate her. She hasn't done anything wrong and if anything she may be one of the few from Disney whom hasn't done anything stupid.
