it depends on how you adopt. people wait longer if they adopt through the state. private adoptions are different. don't judge unless you know the facts. i am an adopted person and there isn't ONE way to adopt. and to 9:42 - i highly doubt every celebrity that adopts only does so to have "arm candy" that is just a ludicrous statement. complete nonsense.

Why is it wrong to adopt children from another country? Those kids need loving parents too. What a strange way to think.
Black, white, yellow, poor rich, every child deserves a fair chance in life with loving parents no matter where they come from or what background they have.
I don't care if it's a celeb who adopts or not a celebrity. As long as much children from all over the world get adopted by honest loving people.
Shame on people who think american children deserve more a chance then from other countries.

it's personal choice. and the real problem is not celebrities adopting from other countries, the problem lies with our society not adopting in general and only wanting perfect caucasian newborns.

I have two friends that both adopted outside of the US. They had to if they wanted a child in their lifetime. There is an extremely long waiting list in the US. I wonder how celebs get a baby over night like this.

She was selfish all her life, didn't want to get pregnant when she was young enough to do it, & now takes another woman's infant as hers. These woman want everything even another woman's baby.

A) she has been taking cancer treatment, so her fertility could be hampered.
B) adoption is not selfish, there are many kids who need better homes then there parents can give.
I have been through what they thought was cancer, and my boyfriend and I are talking about adoption... Who cares that she didn't want kids earlier, many friends of our families started there families after forty, or they expanded there family. Anybody can share there love with a baby

Why is it that she can easily adopt a white 2 week old american baby when it is nearly impossible for 2 parent married couples to do the same>? they end up with 2-3 yr old chineese kids...money talks.....

She didn't get a baby overnight. She started the process over a year ago. And she's not 'taking' someone's baby. They were obviously going to give the kid up for adoption anyway.

wow some pretty mean spirited comments... she lost her boyfriend diagnosed with cancer. went on tour. who she owe anything to? seems like a cool chick. i'm sure the adoption was legal. as far as lashindas comment "they end up with 2-3yr old chinese kids" i hope her ideas aren't from actual experience i'm sure new parents would love any adopted child no matter what race. best of luck sheryl!

I think she deserves some happiness in her life, I mean, she dated Kid Rock. Kid Rock!!! She`s not trying to collect one in every color, like Angelina Jolie, she just wants to be a mom but always ends up with the wrong guy.

Adoption should not be a political issue. Kids need to be loved and nurtured; it doesn't matter which country they are born into. Every parent who adopts should be given props no matter where they adopt from. Congratulations Sheryl.

She's done a lot, she's made a lot of money, and maybe now she's done and she's ready to do the mom thing. She should be congradulated for giving a child a home and choosing to be a mother. It's good that she decided to adopt a baby. With her age and medical history she probably would have a high risk pregnancy. I think other countries need to help people be more aware of STDs and birth control so they don't add to the population in run down cities with starvation etc. I would'nt have had children if I knew I couldn't give them proper nutrition and afford a descent life for them. Just $.85 a day..

it doesn't matter where the bqby comes from for adoption as long as there is someone that wants to share their love with the little person thats all that matters. everything else is not important.

I think it is great to have a bundle of joy it makes your life complete. I had 2 of my own I wouldn't change them for the world of course they are my own flesh and blood but if I couldn't have my own then I wouldn't of adopted of course.
