Ive known all three of these girls since early childhood. Writing from London where we get the show, it's quite interesting to read the comments, they did state in the opening credits here of the first show that Tess was adopted by Andrea and she wasn't their sister/daughter and that her real mum couldn't cope, and it's been said a few times throughout the show that she was brought into the family aged 12.
