Photographers Sue!: Bachelor Wedding Airs, ABC Exploits Security's Attack On Photographers
Posted on Mon Mar 8, 2010 09:03 PM PDT
The two photographers shoved to the ground by security during the taping of the Bachelor wedding last week, have filed suit (click HERE to see the legal docs) against Disney/ABC TV and Next Entertainment (the production company owned by Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss) for battery, false imprisonment, and negligence.
ABC denied to X17online being involved in the hiring of the O&R Security company that day. But that didn't stop the network from airing the fracas in tonight's broadcast AND in the promos for tonight's wedding special -- no doubt, helping with the ratings of their rainy, windy, cold nuptial disaster.
So just who DID hire O&R? A rep from the Terrenea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes where the wedding was held, said the security details' treatment of photographers took resort management "by surprise" and said the hotel had nothing to do with retaining security company's service.
Next Entertainment has not returned our calls over the past week we have been trying to reach them about the incident.
In an interesting, if pathetic twist, a public information officer at the sheriff's department in Lomita, told X17online the founder of O&R Security Antonio Revilla, who was involved in the incident last Monday (pictured above with photographer Eric Brogmus in a chokehold), was planning on filing assault charges against the snapper. To date, this has not happened.
Our attempts to contact Mr. Revilla were met with him dismissing our claims, denying the incident ever occurred. Meanwhile, Mr. Revilla and his colleagues' citizens arrests of Mr. Brogmus and fellow photographer Maxmiliano Lopes were deemed by the district attorney's office to be invalid due to insufficient evidence -- all charges were thrown out.
So how much will Disney have to pay out, is our question. It's a definite win for photographers if their attorneys are any good!
Good luck, Eric and Max! ABC should film THIS for a reality show -- it'd be more interesting than The Bachelor!

I think this is a sad attempt on ABC's part to keep the wedding exclusive. If they didn't want paps there, then they should have chosen a better location. Or better yet, gone with the wedding planer when she said (on tonights episode) that they "should have had it inside where it was warm and dry" - not to mention pap free. in X17's video, the paps say that there were called with a tip to show up. Sounds like ABC is the ones that called and set up the securty to block shots just so they have a way of sprusing up their show. especially since without this incident, and the rain - the episode would have been dull and hard to plug.
When the judge sees this video, I hope they win, and get a cut of the profits from tonight raitings. its only fair since without them, there would have been far less raitings!
and as a side note, your link to the court docs aren't hyperlinking properly. I was directed to a site that doesn't exist.
well done, that video is really out of line : and kudos to the photographers for keeping their cool
Keeping there cool. They refuse to listen to ANYONE and push themselves on people or security UNTIL they are "touched" or arrested just so they get good shots AND sue! This is a feeble attempt by these maggots to get more money than they get just by harassing people
I'm with 12:59, spoiling a shoot that cost millions to the film makers and all the crew and stars involved is a mean thing to do
Finally! I was waiting for you guys to grow some balls and fight back.
These photogs were set up and used for free. ABC needs to pay them. I hope they settle out of court for a large amount.
Keep up the great work!
ABC, just pay them and we can put this all behind us.
Who cares!!! My boyfriend thinks the same with me. He- is eight years older than me, lol. We met online at- A_ge_m_in_gle @ c.o.m a nice and free place for Younger- Women and Older Men, or Older Women and Younger Men, to- interact with each other. Maybe you wanna check out or- tell your friends.
It makes me sick how paps can pursue and invade people in their every day lives, continually putting cameras and flashes in their face when they just want to have a casual day about. Paps are irritants and insects. However, as soon as they are put in an in an uncomfortable position and treated as they should be, they sue. Give me a break. Paps are the scum of the earth and should be treated like the irritating insects they are. Let this be a payback for everytime they hound stars and their small children. Putting the kids in an uncomfortable and unsafe environment. Paps make me sick. Go do something worthy with your life.
this video makes my face turn red in anger. It's unbelievable that these idiot security guards think they can stop someone on a public trail and then try to block a camera shot - who the F*** do they think they are? Also, why isn't someone at ABC or the production company saying who hired these tough guys? Answer is because they're all going to have to pay up. I commend the photogs for playing it perfectly, I hope you get a lot of money!
They were asked to leave but didn't leave so force was needed. It's bc of the photogs that Diana is dead and countless other traffic accidents. Literally the scum of the Earth. BTY, why are they always Latinos. Are they even citizens? Maybe they should show their green card so they can be deported...lamigra!
Hahahahaha I think this is hilarious. You make a living as a paparazzi (essentially exploiting other people for money) and you can't handle being on TV?!? Doesn't sound like a solid case to me...
