After being slapped with a lawsuit for his involvement in a string of allegedly illegal poker games, Tobey Maguire has agreed to settle in bankruptcy court for $80,000.

The Spider-Man star was one of 22 people sued for winnings paid out by con man Brad Ruderman, who was later convicted of wire fraud and investment fraud. A trustee from Ruderman Capital is trying to recover the $25 million allegedly lost in these poker games, which were said to have involved fellow A-list stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Ben Affleck.

Maguire reportedly won more than $300,000 in poker, and in the lawsuit, the bankruptcy judge determined the poker was "unlicensed and the winnings were ill-gotten gains from Ruderman's clients," according to THR. Maguire presented the settlement on November 18, and in addition to the sum of money he's prepared to hand over, he also denies any knowledge of Ruderman's Ponzi scheme and agreed not to make any claim on the bankrupt estate. A hearing date has been set for December 21, and if the judge approves Maguire's settlement, he will be released from the ongoing case.

Tobey Maguire has filed legal documents saying he did not take part in illegal poker games, though he admits that legal games occurred.

Maguire is being sued by the bankruptcy trustees of a convicted felon who Maguire supposedly won money from -- the trustees want their more than $300,000 back.

Maguire argues that the games were not "controlled games," which would mandate that the host have a license. He admits that he was invited to play, but denies that there was a regular roster of celebs.

Reportedly, the poker games included such A-listers as Ben Affleck and Leonardo DiCaprio and thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of dollars were exchanged.

Howard M. Ehrenberg, a trustee for Ruderrman Capital Partners, has named actor Tobey Maguire in a lawsuit alleging the Spiderman star was involved in an underground gambling ring.

According to the lawsuit, Maguire pocketed more than $300,000 while taking part in unlicensed poker games between 2006 - 2009.

The suit also states that Bradley Ruderman, who managed the Rudermann Capital Partners fund, used money from investors to pay off his massive debt from Texas Hold 'em games. These games reportedly involved A-list actors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

In the legal papers, it says:

“As the Poker Games, the operators of the Poker Games, the dealers for the Poker Games, the equipment used at the Poker Games and the locations of the Poker Games were unlicensed and improperly conducted pursuant to state and local laws, rules and ordinances, to the extent that a player were to ‘win’ at one of the Poker Games and to the extent that the player was not paid for the winnings, the player had no legally enforceable contractual right to receive payment, and had no right to enforce the winnings in state or federal court."

With temps soaring into the high 90s over the weekend, we're guessing Spiderman and his fam lounged poolside for the rest of the day!
