Tobey Maguire May Have Turned Down Spider-man 4 To Star In The Hobbit!

Tobey Maguire's schedule opened up after the studio pulled the plug on Spider-man 4 due to what they said were delays, but the real reason may have been because he wanted to play Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit!
The Sun reports that Maguire (who bears a striking resemblance to Elijah Wood, who played Frodo in LOTR) was unhappy with where Spider-Man 4 was headed, so pulled the plug in order to free himself up for The Hobbit.
A source close to the film-makers says, "Everyone is over the moon. Tobey is not only one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, he is also one of the best actors."
Just a month ago, Maguire told reporters, "I love Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson and I certainly wouldn't take myself out of the conversation."
But he had no comment when our photogs spotted him out having brunch with the family in LA at Real Food Daily:

Spiderman needs a new face, not a younger version; that was tried with Batman and failed miserably. Try Spiderman vs. Electro or the like in 3D, that might work. Tobey was good; but Thanks for giving someone else a chance!!

He does not look like Elijah at all...
No news could be more dissapointing. I mean, the Spideman movies are the best superhero movies that were ever made (besides perhaps The Dark Knight), and it was Tobey Maguire who made it that way. As he said many times in the movies, "I am Spiderman." For Tobey Maguire to quit will spell the downfall of the Spiderman series. They need to get him back or the spiderman series is dead.
It's sad to see him break away from Spiderman, but h*ll yes to him as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. That movie is going to be awesome!
