British Olympic diver Tom Daley has just come out in a candid YouTube video, revealing that he is currently dating a man. While the Olympian, who won the bronze medal in last year's London games, says he still likes girls, his current relationship is with another man. Celebs like Russell Brand and Kylie Minogue have tweeted out their support of Tom's decision to go public.
"Of course I still fancy girls. But, right now I am dating a guy and I couldn't be happier. It feel safe and it really does feel right," the 19-year-old said while sitting atop of what appears to be a bed, decorated with Union Jack pillows.
In the heartfelt video, Daley said, "And come spring this year, my life changed massively when I met someone and it made me feel so happy, so safe and everything just feels great. And that someone is a guy - and it did take me by surprise a little bit."
Rumors about the diver's sexuality have swirled about the athlete since he started his career in sports. As recently as September, the Brit brushed off gay rumors, telling the Daily Mirror, "I think it’s funny when people say I’m gay... I laugh it off. I’m not. But even if I was, I wouldn’t be ashamed. It wouldn’t bother me in the slightest what people thought."
We're definitely glad to see the hunky diver isn't denying who he is any more. And while this announcement may serve a slight distraction to his training, Tom is set on gold for the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro.
The Olympian concluded his five-minute video by saying, "I'm still Tom, I still want to win a gold medal in Rio 2016 for Great Britain. I'm still as motivated as ever to do that. And it would be great to have you guys on that journey too.
Good luck to Tom and his mystery man!
