Shakira And Usher To Replace Christina Aguilera And Cee Lo On The Voice

Sep 18, 2012 09:45 AM

ushershakira460.jpg The Voice is getting a makeover!

Shakira and Usher will replace Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green as coaches for season four of the hit singing competition, the network announced Monday.

"We are thrilled to welcome Usher and Shakira to The Voice. The addition of these popular iconic artists continues the tradition established by Christina, Cee Lo, Adam, and Blake," NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement.

Xtina is leaving the show to focus on promoting her new Lotus album, while Cee Lo will be working on new music and development of a scripted comedy series. Not that they won't be returning! Both coaches are expected back for season five after they fulfill their other commitments.

"As I have expressed since day one of the show, that I am a singer and performer first and I am so excited to get back to that love. Since this year NBC and The Voice have decided to tape back-to-back seasons, requiring a full-year commitment, it is important for me to take season four off, allowing me to support my music that my fans have been waiting for - with the release of my new album Lotus on November 13. By pursuing my first passion of music during the break, I am also able to come back and offer even more to my team on The Voice in the future," Aguilera said in the release.

Cee Lo also expressed his love for the show and explained what he will be doing during the hiatus.

"First... thank you NBC for supporting my decision to take this season four hiatus! It says that I'm seen and respected as a complete artist and not just a cast member. I'm highly enthusiastic about focusing my undivided attention on my additional endeavors and interests like my upcoming solo album, new Goodie Mob album, Las Vegas residency Loberace, new memoir, and new NBC comedy," Green added.

The coach swap might be friendly, but the rival show competition isn't! Squaring off against The Voice is Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey on Idol and Demi Lovato and Britney Spears on X-Factor.

We have a feeling Usher's protege Justin Bieber might be stopping by the set to offer his insight as a guest coach!

Don't believe the lies! Usher is alive and well... and ripped!

The internet was ablaze with rumors Tuesday that the R&B singer had died tragically in a car crash, so to clear up the confusion, the "Confessions" crooner tweeted this picture with the caption, "I must've died and went to heaven...Alive and cold kicking a**!!"

Thank goodness we don't have to comfort Justin Bieber over the loss of his mentor!

It's a good thing the 31-year-old father of two is still kickin', because he is gearing up for a series of collaborations with the "Boyfriend" singer that will be released on both their respective albums.
