Whitney Houston Shines in Sparkle Trailer

The trailer for Sparkle debuted today, giving fans a look at Whitney Houston's final film performance in the Supremes-inspired remake.
The late singer returned to the big screen after a 16-year hiatus to play the mother of three girls trying to make it big in the music industry. Jordin Sparks, Cee Lo Green, Mike Epps, Derek Luke, Tika Sumpter and Amari Hardwick co-star in the movie set to hit theaters this summer.
This was intended to be a comeback role for Houston, who died Feb. 11.
Sparkle arrives in theaters on August 17.

Whitney Houston's official cause of death has been ruled as "drowning and effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use," according to the singer's toxicology report released Thursday.
