Like all famous little sisters (Nicky Hilton, Ashlee Simpson, Ali Lohan, et al), Solange Knowles may feel like she's living in her big sister's shadow, but after her appearance on Letterman in NYC yesterday, we're happy to say that she stands on her own two feet. Unfortunately, this recognition comes as a result of her disastrous choice in clothing.
Solange has a killer figure, and the skinny dark denim looks great on her derriere, but the purple ostrich-feather shrug and print booties are atrocious. The shrug might not have been so bad in black (in fact, Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham have rocked similar styles and pulled it off) but Solange couldn't resist the plum colored madness, and that's the first problem with this outfit. Next is the shoes. They look like someone covered them in cloth from the clearance bin at Jo-Ann Fabrics, and the saddest part is they're probably worth a few hundred dollars. Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it looks good!
If she really wanted to get noticed, she should have worn simpler pumps (even leopard would be fine!) and a different top combo, but she just had to take the fug route, which is totally unforgivable. On a final note, the oversize gold necklace isn't bad by itself, but it doesn't work with the outfit - it's like adding chocolate sprinkles to a fish taco - it doesn't make any sense and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

The outfit is cute if you take away the ostrich that is lying on top of her shoulders! The only person you can blame for the outfit is her mom. I know she dresses Beyonce, I would think she does the same for Solange, unless she treats Solange like a stepchild!
The shoes are sooooo Red Hat Society which is a age-50+ "club" for women who chose to dress in a combonation of red and purple to signify that they are Red Hat Society members. Did screwing up her career with getting pregnant by her football player beaufriend properl her forward THAT many years?
I can kind of see where she was going with matching the lavender undertone in her shoes and with that heinous atroscity on her shoulders, however she got lost somewhere on her way to style. I agree, get rid of the ostrich wrap and toss the shoes. Sheesh. This is like homeless shic

i have heard her on a couple of radio shows trying to promote her new album and this girl is a serious bitch, if she doesn't want to be compared to beyonce then she shouldn't do the exact same thing her sister does and does very well. goodluck with that solange!
