LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Today GLAAD announced that they will be honoring Grammy award winning singer Janet Jackson with the prestigious Vanguard Award at the GLAAD Media Awards, which will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.

GLAAD President Neil G. Giuliano released this statement on GLAAD's official website:

“We are delighted to honor Janet Jackson at the 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles as such a visible, welcoming and inclusive ally of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.”

Ellen Degeneres, who has been honored by GLAAD in the past, will be presenting the award to Jackson. Past recipients of the Vanguard Award include Charlize Theron, Elizabeth Taylor, Liza Minnelli and Whoopi Goldberg.
