Hellboy II Is Number One At The Box Office

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Hellboy II: The Golden Army took the number one spot at the box office this weekend, earning $35.9 million, while Will Smith's latest action film, Hancock, took the number two spot and $33 million in it's second week, making it's gross to date $165 million. Journey to the Center of the Earth, starring Brendan Fraser, took in a disappointing $20.6 million, and just barely managed to claim the number three spot from Pixar's Wall-E, which brought in an additional $18.5 million, making it's gross to date $162 million.
While this past weekend didn't have any smash hits, critics are already looking forward to this Friday, which will mark the opening of The Dark Knight, starring the late Heath Ledger and Christian Bale. Inside sources at at Warner Bros. have predicted that the film will make somewhere between $90 and $100 million, but other movie critics are predicting that the latest Batman installment could earn somewhere between $130 to $150 in it's opening weekend.
