American Acts Take Top MTV Europe Awards

LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - American pop acts dominated the MTV Europe Music Awards Wednesday night in Liverpool, UK.
Britney Spears won best album for "Blackout" and was named best act of 2008. Spears accepted the awards with a video taped message thanking fans.
Katy Perry, the host of the night's awards, won for best new act.
Pink's "So What" was named "most addictive" track. And 30 Seconds to Mars won the "rock-out" awards for "A Beautiful Lie."
"This has been a really exciting week for us Americans," said frontman Jared Leto, who got the crowd to chant "Congrats Barack."
Bono was on hand to present Liverpool's own Sir Paul McCartney with the legend award.
"I've got to thank my mates Ringo, George and John," said McCartney.
"Many years ago, four little boys born here in Liverpool - and we went on to do quite well." McCartney also thanked people in the U.S. for "voting in Mr. Obama."
