LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Britian's Daily Mail printed a retraction and issued an apology for a story which reported the "Californication" actor had an affair with his tennis instructor.
""On October 19, an article about actor David Duchovny may have suggested he had an amorous relationship with a tennis coach, Edith Pakay," the statement in Monday's print and online editions read.
"We now accept this is inaccurate and Ms. Pakay and Mr. Duchovny are only friends who used to play tennis occasionally. Their relationship went no further and was not a factor in Mr. and Mrs. Duchovny's separation. We apologize to Ms. Pakay, Mr. Duchovny and to Mr. Duchovny's family."
It's not clear if any damages will be paid. Duchovny filed a multi-million dollar defamation lawsuit against the paper after the story first ran.
Last month, Duchovny separated from his wife of 11 years, actress Tea Leoni.
