LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Despite rumors of a new romance, John Mayer says he doesn't have a girlfriend.

"If I had a girlfriend, she would be incredibly offended by me saying 'I don't have a girlfriend,'" Mayer told X17online exclusively.

Mayer made the comments this weekend near his home in Pacific Palisades, Calif. To confirm his bachelor status, Mayer planted a kiss on the lips of a female fan.

Last week, reports surfaced that Mayer had begun dating a waitress who he met in a Beverly Hills lounge. The reported new girlfriend , Scheana Marie Jancan, is also a model who's been featured in ads for Ed Hardy and Doritos.
