I think the title should have going to Adam, but then again, this show is just for exposure to the world, look at some passed winners who never became big stars, and the 2nd or 3rd winners are .Adam is set for live, and everyone will fight to engage him, he will fill stadiums, no problem here. Kris probably will be forgotten in a short time.

I think that Kris won because he deserved it! Adam was great but he has been doing theater and performing since age 10. Kris came out of the blue, improved, kept to the course, and won public support. Period! It is rather sad that Adam's fans have to make excuses for his second place finish. He is terrific and will do great in the music industry. Let Kris have his moment!

Kris Allen is a great singer but ADAM LAMBERT should have won. Another year that proves call in voters shouldn't be choosing the winner. I said I would quit watching after Chris Daughtry lost but this does it for me.

Besides having a mediocre voice, he lacks charisma and star quality. This is a singing contest NOT A POPULARITY contest! I agree completely that this proves voters should not be picking winners. I like Chris but his singing and style is no comparison to Adam. Every song sounds basically the same and is very mellow. Adam's style is much more innovative, dynamic and entertaining!

Kris was right when he said: Adam should have won. I haven't heard any man sing like him since Robert Plant. Just take that Queens song, the only voice you heard out of their duo was Adams'. It is so sad that talent isn't what got recognized last night. There are many singers like Kris but Adam is unique. He opened my heart with his voice.

Adam and Kris are both winners. American Idol provided them enormous amounts of exposure to every power in the music industry. No losers here. Kris being crowned Season 8 winner did not affect my life in any way. I will watch again next year. I am sorry, but I guess you have to like over-the-top dramatic singing to enjoy Adam...........he is really good at what he does, but I found myself fastforwarding through his screaming...........eeek ! I began thinking Adam would win, but the more he sang, the less I was impressed. He has an enormous voice, but lacked versatility. By the end of the competition, I knew exactly what he was going to sound like and that high note eventually became a shriek. Kris by far showed much more growth and gave Adam all he could handle. Both men were class acts.

The comments here are a good picture, I think, of the national opinion of both singers--a split almost right down the middle. (If Dial Idol has it right) Personally I got kind of tired of Adam, but then I never really enjoyed the sound of 80's hair bands even when they were cutting edge. But as time pasted every song had signature screaming effects in it and it got really old. Kris has a better voice and is definitely talented. The right person won! Kris is a much more marketable choice. He will make money in pop, country and christian music which ultimately will make FOX and a record label $$$$$$$. I can't get over that people would get so upset over a television show. What difference does it make who won? Both have it made and will go far.

I think Adam will be just fine without the AI title. I voted for Adam at first but then started voting for Kris because of his all around artistic talent. Adam got very repetative with his screams. Don't get me wrong, on some songs it was GREAT, but not on every song. I could listen to someone like Kris all day. Don't forget who buys the albums out there, it is the tweens and teens, and all of us women.

What some of you Kris fans don't get is Adam can sing Kris' songs but Kris does not have the range to sing Adam's songs. Who says Adam screamed every song? He only screamed when he was singing a hard rock song. He sang quite a few slow songs like Mad World, Track of My Tears magnificently without screaming. Adam has much more versatility and range than Kris ever will. Those who argue that Kris can play guitar and piano. I say that's irrelevant. AI is SINGING contest not a general talent contest. I am a musician and Kris is not even a good musician.

Every song Adam performed showed originality, creativity and showmanship. He is mesmerizing which is what an "Idol" is supposed to be. The judges are professionals and THEY think Adam should have been the idol. They should know.

Both young men are very talented as were some of the other contestants. I had hoped that Danny would win... incredible talent! However, congratulations to Kris! Amazing artist. The immaturity of some who have commented and are pouting like toddlers is hilarious. Grow up; it's just a television show for Pete's sake.

Adam and Kris both are very talented-but in very different ways. The thing I focused on was Kris' multiple talents-he played multiple instruments, arranged songs, as well as singing. Adam did not ever portray being musical in any other way than stage and singing and arranging. I think Kris is what the competition is all about a world wide singer!! not just one style or personna.

They were both great competitors and top notch! I'm thrilled for Kris. Adam was entertaining and has a range like none other. Kris overcame, shyness and with each week improved and peaked at the right time. I think Adam peaked too early and that with all the disappointed Gokey fans, they naturally went to Kris because they had the same type of voices. I love Adam and I respect Kris for working for it! It could be that Adam's gift came naturally and Kris had to work harder for it. I like hard workers. Adam was certainly fun. Kris is a doll and an IDOL, something for the tweeners to look up to. Pretty simple though, if you like Rock, you'll choose Adam, if you like contemporary, you chose Kris. Neither is better or worse, just different. Let's enjoy their diversity! If folk songs are your bag, then Kris is the man for you. Strumming on a guitar and playing the piano still does not compare to Adam's personna, good looks, stage presence, song arrangements, voice; not to mention that he is such a gentleman, and a classy, all around good guy. Adam moved the pitch of every song to the same high falsetto and imported the same skin-crawling shriek. The comment that "You made the song your own" for Adam can be translated to read "You made every song sound exactly the same and showed no style range." And, no, Adam, can't do heavy metal, rock or anything else...he does the same show tune, just with different lyrics.

Has anyone out there heard the music Adam made before AI? I have on youtube and it is way out there. It sounds like psychodelic or something. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that but there is only so many people out there buying that kind of music. Hopefully he will take the advice given to him and get a band together. He would be great doing that, TV or musicals. If he was sooo great then why wasn't he signed before AI??????????? OMG .. The comments here just proves, Americans STILL haven't "got it". This is a freaken reality show people, personally I was a bigger fan of Kris, but both men are amazing talents. It's entertainment, if you're not entertained and happpy .. don't watch it or get involved. Forget all that you read about their backgrounds, about their faith, about their lives and look to their performances. I am not a teenage girl, I am a guy pushing 50…and when I look at my own kids and ask myself who would you want them to look up to I can answer it easily….both!! These guys went after their dream…and if you think in anyway it was easy for them then you are living in a dream. I admire them both, am proud of them both and just hope that those that don’t get what this is all about find some way to find happiness…....P.S. I'm from a different generation and not really a fan of any of the music, however the voting is a no brainer-- the people who had been voting for Danny voted for Kris, pure and simple. I predicted it 2 days ago.

I'm glad Chris won. Next time, maybe the judges will refrain from endorsing one of the contestants. I believe that was probably what hurt Adam. Also, I really believe the show tried to manipulate the ending. Most people believed that Danny and Adam would be in the finale. However, the judges comments, song choices, and the singing order of the final three (Adam, Danny, Chris) went along way to push Danny out of the picture. I think the judges did everything they could do manipulate the finale. They wanted Adam to win, and they did everything they could do fix it. Maybe they didn't think Adam couldn't have beaten Danny, so they just pushed him out. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they don't change the format next season so they have more say in the outcome.

I am a UK fan of AI and had a sneaky peak at the results. I am really pleased for both of them, there are no losers only winners, both will do well. Look at Daughtry (who I am a huge fan of). I just wish people weren't so nasty, they both deserved to win, only one could. The American public voted, Kris is their winner, hooray for democracy, but Adam will earn millions. We older "American Idol" watchers, ages 70 and older, loved Kris and hated having to hear all the shrieking that Adam did throughout this season. His "gothic" look didn't help matters, either........ it gave him such a "creepy" look.

Adam will be very popular for a few years. I liken him to Britney Spears, a lot of T&A with little substance. Kris, will stumble around for a while - perhaps a few years, but eventually he will hit his stride and be active for many years to come. He won't fill the big stadiums like Adam will in the early years. Instead, Kris will still be releasing new material that sells out the smaller arenas 20 years from now. Kris will eventually win an emmy or two, be known for thought provocative music that he writes himself. Twenty years from now Adam will be fat, bald and performing at state fairgrounds. So in the end, it doesn't matter who won, they will both be successful.

I've been to almost every AI concert, and the main concert goers and CD purchasers are moms with tweeners and highschool students. I think Adam will do just fine. Kris won because HE IS the American Idol. If you have downloaded his music and you are a music lover, as I, you would realize that. The fact that FOX is questioning his win is an insult. The fact of the matter is, Adam could sing, but was extremely difficult to watch. In the end, he got so confident he was going to win, he STOPPED singing and tried to show off more. I did not find it appealing. It is funny that I did not meet ONE person who enjoyed it! He was the so called "front-runner" because he is from the state where the fans have the means to tell the world how "great" they thought he was. I believe Adam should of won this competition by a long shot. He was the best singer in the whole show by far. He had such control and connection with the audience. Every time he performed I felt the need to move closer to the tv so I wouldnt miss a single note or move. He was great!!!!!! Kris only was able to pull off a few good performances the whole season. i am so happy that kris won.kris is really good singer.adam was to much for me,did not like all of the screaming and outfits,eye liner.

It's AI's fault that Adam didn't win, and they robbed Kris of his moment but setting him up to feel like he didn't deserve it. All around I think AI screwed up. First, they made it so obvious that they were Adam's cheerleaders that when Kris won, he couldn't even have his moment, he was filled w/ guilt since the judges had basically told him he didn't deserve to win the night before. And that stunt w/ Kate Perry the week before was disgraceful and probably fueled tons of people to vote AGAINST Adam (hence, for Kris) just to make a point. I think AI really screwed all top three contestants, starting w/ unequal song choices the last 2 weeks, and cheerleading that turned people against Adam, and then f'ing with Kris's moment. Losers. But I'll still watch next year.

After reading all these blogs its like reading the george bush vs Al gore..lol Kris held his own through it all and yes he is unique but if any one truly Earned and and worked to be the best it was Adam .things happen for a reason and i am sure they will both do well but what Adam left us is a great topic of discussion the world knows he is some one who will open new doors and teach us that its time to not be ashamed of who you are and express who you are and be proud .you are a great Artist and you gave us so many great moments .

These negative comments are what have made our country the way it is today. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. Just be glad you can still watch television before that right is gone also. Congratulations to both i believe they both won no matter what.

I predict that in a year Kris will be forgotten! Adam was the best all around performer and the judges agreed. Adam will go on and Kris will fade away like all the other mediocre singers on the show.

First of all Adam should have won. Kris was really good but Adam was better. That said...I think American Idol should change the weight of America's vote. The judges should have some say in how a contestant places. An example is Allison. She should have been 2nd and if not 2nd, 3rd. I thought Alexis Grace was excellent. I don't think she should have been 11th. I agree that Kris will probably fade away like (I can't even think of his name) the guy who came in first instead of Kathryn Mcphee. Something needs to change with the voting because the best singer did not win.

Everybody has an opinion, and like something we all have, they all stink. Any of the 3 finalists, Danny, Kris, Adam could be declared winners. They are 3 unique artists and individuals, that can have great success. The flaw is not with the voters, it's with the concept of the show. If this was American Rock Idol, Adam would have one. If this was American Contemporary or soul, Kris or Danny wins. That's what it is period. If you are pissed cause Adam lost, you aren't seeing the big picture. You don't get it. The flaw is with the show. The success of the show, is with the fact you all get ticked and come here to post and "vent", and you are in essence promoting the show. Y'all are too funny.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You're all correct! Both Adam and Kris are very talented individuals but very different. This is my first time watching AI. It's very entertaining. My kids even know what day it comes on and what time. Adam and Kris are both winners. When Danny was eliminated last week, his fans pushed Kris to win Idol. Danny and Kris have so many similarities. Many people didn't particularly liked Adam's appearance, style and music (screaming). But, I voted for Adam. I enjoyed his (rock) music, as well as Kris. What makes a person an idol is that the people want it so, it is the voters who must decide, not the judges....if anyone will succeed, they will know by the public buying their CDs and Itunes. Since the Idols must appeal to the people, it is the people who must vote and most of the millions of voters this time chose Kris. So be it.

hey guys, for all of you that are adam fans, take a look at the interviews that adam has been giving post-finale and he is being gracious in his lost to kris and saying that kris deserved to win...he's not being a sore loser...and i dont think Adam would appreciate it that you guys are trashing another human being and vowing to not watch Idol again....we all have our opinions and should respect each other....that's why america is the way it is, people have stopped respecting each other and thinking their view is better, etc...i personally for one am glad that kris won, because i was a fan of his, but adam was a phenonmenal singer as well, but both guys are humble and gracious and we should respect that and model that same behavior...it really is pointless to keep arguing about this back and forth because in a few months, who is really going to care or still be talking about the results...adam will have a great career, as will Kris...embrace it and respect Kris, as He is your fellow human being...i'm a 23 year old and i voted for Kris, which doesnt make me a teen....i voted him bc of his humility, gracious spirit, sweetness, and amazing singing ability.

american idol is suppose to be a show based on talent, not on popularity. american idol 2009 season proves that popularity won over talent. Yes-I agree that voting should be a part of the winning process but in the end the final decision should be left up to the judges. They are the experts in the music industry. We the public, are only the listeners. You can tell by the expression on Simons face that the winner for 2009 was indeed a shocker. Adam will indeed prove that he is the ultimate winner and will rise to the top. He is the most talented person that american idol has seen since the show began and I am sure that he will prove it. Kris had his moment in the spotlight but Adam is going to be at the top of the charts before the end of 2009 and Kris will be forgotten.

Wow, why is there so much hate towards Kris from the Adam fans?? I'm an Adam fan but I'm sooo happy for Kris! Kris deserved to win just as much as Adam did. You have to look at it this way. Adam has been doing this for a long time. Whether he won or lost he is still going to go on to bigger and better things now. He's amazing! But Kris is also amazing! and I think that if he didn't win American Idol he wouldn't really be doing much. So giving him his chance at making music was a great thing for him. I suppose the bottom-line is "Whose concert would you pay to go and see"? Who had the most talent, the most charisma, the uniqueness to set him aside from many others? Unfortunately, not Kris, who is much like any of thousands of other Idol wannabees.

I'm almost 65 and from the evening that we watched the final 36 or so, it was so clear that the most talented individual in the competition was Adam Lambert. The stage 'presence' he exhibited was second to none in the competition. He sang every song he was given without any problems, unlike Kris and others.

And like so many other people have mentioned, check out the status of Adam and Kris in a year or two, and see who has commanded the bigger 'star' factor. Kris won the phone-in popularity contest because as Mr. Cowell stated " You're like a little puppy dog." And what people don't like a cute little puppy dog?

I liked both of them I liked Kris from the start because he just seemed down to earth. He can sing slow songs good, and has a great personality.
I liked Adam second but could not Handle the Screaming that he did. In a Nutshell they are both winners and Adam will sell more records and can now do his own records. He will be picked up by a great recording studio and will do well. Both are winners and that is what matters.

So many people are over the top about Adams vocals...he can sing very well, and has a signature style. To me, he sounded more like a middle-aged African-American female! And I say that with all due respect, because I appreciate all music. After all...I'm a music teacher myself. Adam and Kris will both do great. Chris has a way to reach a lot more people with very singable songs, whereas Adam can wow people with talent.
I see an educated mature person in Kris--with talent that needs to be formally developed.
I see a very talented musician in Adam, with lots of experience, but he also needs formal training and development to give him versatility.

Because he was truely the better singer with a wider voice range than Chris. When you can sing like Adam and move your hips the way he does than you will have room to talk.
