NEW YORK, New York (X17online) - Attorneys for Madonna presented arguments to Malawi's highest court on Monday in her bid to overturn her denied attempt to adopt a 3-year-old girl from the African nation.

Madonna's initial request for adoption was denied because she did not meet the country's residency requirements.

Meantime, a man has come forward claiming to be the little girl's father and says he should be given custody of the child. Paternity has not yet been established.

It is not known when the court will rule on Madonna's appeal.
